Paul Mahood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 28 to May 30, 2011.
Died: May 12, 2011; in Chicago

NORTH AURORA – Paul Roger Mahood, 58, of North Aurora, died May 12, 2011, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. June 4, 2011, at the Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn.

Paul was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1952 to Anne and Roland Mahood. He graduated from Ithaca College in 1974 and shortly thereafter took his young family to the Midwest to pursue a career in sales.

Paul was infrequently indoors. He spent many summer vacations fishing and canoeing in the peaceful waters of the Quetico Provincial Park. He was also a longtime member and previous board member of the St. Charles Sportsman's Club.

Paul is remembered by many as a kind and generous soul who was always willing to lend an ear and offer a bit of sound advice. An avid reader and talented writer, he was constantly surrounded by a pile of books. At the time of his passing, he was working on two novels.

Paul loved his family deeply and was fascinated by history and genealogy. He is survived by his wife, Susan Mahood; son, Michael Mahood; daughter, Jessica Dube; granddaughter, Zoey Dube; and two brothers, William and James Mahood.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Anne and Roland Mahood; and brothers, Richard and Ronald Mahood.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice, 200 Whitfield Dr., Geneva, IL 60134; or to the Friends of Quetico Park, P. O. Box 29127, Thunder Bay, ON, P7B 6P9, Canada, or via CanadaHelps.org.

Paul now canoes forever in tranquil waters.
