Eric: I was a friend of your father and mother when I taught at the University of Missouri in the 1970s. Though I did not see either of them again after I left there in 1977, I have always remembered them fondly and happily. They were both lovely people, and I greatly admired your father's work as an historian. My condolences to you and the rest of your family.

Dear Eric, Jefferson, Steven and extended family,
A while back, I launched a quest for information on our family history and was blessed to have found your father along the way. I only knew Paul a short time but you should know that he made a huge impact on my life. He was kind, encouraging and so supportive of my enthusiasm for the details of our family history. My heart is heavy with the weight of this loss. You have my sincerest condolences.
Love from Your cousin,
Frances Groeneman, Pacoima Ca.

Dear Eric, Jefferson, Steven and Family,
As executive assistant to the Board of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation since 1989, I have had the pleasure of knowing your parents through the years. Your father served diligently and faithfully in his role as trustee. On their many visits to Williamsburg, your parents often spoke of all of you and always with such pride. Several weeks ago I had the honor of one last conversation with your father in which he shared his gratefulness for his family and for the life he has had the privilege of living. May you always hold dear the precious memories.
