Paul Michael Nemiroff PhD., MD, FACS, 73, passed away on August 10, 2022.

He was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 13, 1949, the second son of Morton and Anne (Rootberg) Nemiroff. Paul graduated from Grant High School in Los Angeles. He received his BA in Psychology from UCLA, his MS in Organizational Psychology from San Francisco University and earned his PhD from Purdue University in Behavior Sciences/Psychology. During this time he created a group decision making program that was used in universities nationwide, called Lost At Sea. Following his time in the Psychology field, Paul decided to accomplish his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor by earning his MD from UCLA Medical School. He completed his surgical residencies at UCLA/Cedars Sinai and University of Florida. Dr. Nemiroff held several academic appointments at major universities, and gained international reputation for his work at Vanderbilt University developing two hyperbaric and wound care medical centers.

Paul was a dedicated Board Certified Head and Neck Surgeon who scored the highest in the country on his Head and Neck surgery exams. He was an accomplished Fellow of the American College of Surgeons performing over 10,000 surgeries, saving countless lives. He received over a dozen national Medical, Press, and Humanitarian awards. He published and presented hundreds of articles, research papers and book chapters as well as wrote an autobiography, Nine Lives. Paul was honored to have been invited to the White House where he was considered for Surgeon General of The United States.

His medical expertise and accolades lead him to a second award-winning career in broadcasting with CBS Television, where he was the Chief Medical Correspondent on-air at KCBS in Los Angeles and KDKA in Pittsburgh, PA. He later developed Joint Formula 88 and a number of medical products used by over a million Americans, which he presented on-air and distributed nationally via the QVC Network.

He was a decorated Army Ranger veteran of the 101st Airborne Division ("Screaming Eagles"). He was also a Sigma Chi member and was honored as a Significant Sig. Both his military service and his service as a Sigma Chi were very important to him. Paul ran thirteen marathons, including the 100th running of the Boston Marathon, and in recent years took great joy in becoming a licensed pilot at the age of 72.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Patrice Nemiroff, brother Arthur Nemiroff (wife Ute), his daughters Nicole Nemiroff and Rachael Nemiroff, stepson Guy Brown, stepdaughter Lauren Killmeyer (husband Steven), grandson Parker Killmeyer, nieces Lysa Nemiroff Stark (husband Randy) and Danielle Kiefner.

To honor Paul's memory, his family is holding a celebration of his life on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Harbor Lawn - Mount Olive Memorial Mortuary and Memorial Park, 1625 Gisler Ave, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.

Paul and I were freshman room mates at UC Santa Barbara. He was witty, entertaining, and charming and I knew he was destined for big things. One of my favorite memories is of him singing "26 Miles Across the Sea" as he accompanied himself on the guitar. My most sincere sympathy to his family.

Our dear friend and colleague Paul will be surely missed but we will always have so many fond memories of our times with Paul and Patrice in LA, San Francisco, Newport, Santa Monica, Atlanta, Huntsville and, of course, Maui. Memories of our lively and lengthly conversations will always keep him in our thoughts. He was truly a good friend.
