Paul NYQUIST Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 28, 2014.
Paul David Nyquist, 52, of Marquette, died Monday morning, July 28, 2014 at his home in the loving care of his family. Paul was born on May 18, 1962 in Escanaba and was a 1980 graduate of Escanaba High School. He also graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. Paul was previously employed in Social Services over many years. He is most remembered however, for the years he owned and operated Avant Gardens Floral in Marquette, an occupation he truly enjoyed. He served as a cantor at Mass, weddings and funerals at St. Peter Cathedral. His love of singing, his exuberant personality and talents brought joy and happiness to many people. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Kerry, whom he married on July 19, 2005; three sons, Matthew (fiancé, Mia Cinelli) of Defiance, OH, Charles Nyquist and Andrew Nyquist, both of Marquette; two daughters, Heather (Joseph) Callahan and Andrea Robbins, both of Tuscaloosa, AL; his parents, Donald and Fay Nyquist of Escanaba; two brothers, Dr. Donald J. (Kathie) Nyquist of Escanaba and John (Kathy) Nyquist of Akron, NY; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Paul's life will take place on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home with Deacon Scott Jamieson presiding. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba at a later date. A time of food and fellowship will take place immediately after the celebration in the funeral home. Flowers are welcomed. Paul loved flowers, arranging them, giving them, and making sure they were perfect for the occasion. And he would welcome it even more if you gave some to someone you love. Memorials to Lake Superior Hospice would also be welcomed.
