Paul H. Orr

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our step- father, Paul H. Orr. Paul died at age 84, on November 12, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with advanced kidney disease. Paul is survived by his three stepchildren, Ileen Winick, Todd Winick and Jenna Grimmett, whom he embraced as his own children, and by his three grandchildren, Jennifer Winick, Julian Applebaum and Jacob Applebaum. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Orr, and more recently by his wife, Darlene Lynch.

Paul was a graduate of Cleveland State University where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering. Paul was a very talented and innovative engineer who worked for Ohio Edison company from 1962 to 1992. He then joined Abbott Laboratories in Chicago as a Senior Engineer and Project Manager. After departing Abbott, Paul moved to Hollywood, Florida and founded NUTEK Engineering Consulting, which he continued to grow and run until recently.

Paul also volunteered with several civic organizations, including serving as President of the Akron Jaycees, Board member of the Akron Civic Theater, and President of the National Soap Box Derby.

Paul's legacy is the extreme generosity, kindness and compassion he showed to all he met. He had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks in life, especially those who were in need of encouragement, support and mentoring. He took many people under his wing throughout his life, seeing their best qualities and potential, and helping them to strive for and accomplish their goals.

He was a man of incredible strength and resiliency, with a big, warm heart who will be dearly missed by many.
