My life was better for knowing Paul. I worked with him for 11 years at Nuheat Industries & enjoyed every moment that I spent in his company. He exemplified all that was good in a human & generated a warmth & positivity that was wonderful to be around. I remember vividly him raising the American Flag on the flag pole in the parking lot at Cliveden. As someone who had served his country this was a proud moment for him & his march, turn & salute is one of many fond memories I retain of Paul. He will be sorely missed.

Im deeply saddened to have learned yesterday of Pauls passing. I met him when he walked through the doors of Mission Training Center. As the Fitness Director at the time, I welcomed many who were fighting cancer and helping them get through with strength hope and encouragement. Despite what he was battling, his spirit, sincerity and smile was so genuine.....thats what he exuded. Strength and Hope....determination to fight. I am so sorry for your loss. I am blessed to have known him, even if for a short time. Rest in peace my friend

As I was reflecting this weekend about Paul and what a special, remarkable and wonderful individual that he was, I came across the notes for a speech for Paul's winning of the 2011 Marilyn Thurau Award at Nuheat Industries. I thought it so powerful and representative of him that I decided to post it here for all those who loved Paul to read...

PAUL PARFITT MARILYN THURAU 2011

Paul has exemplified all of the qualities (hard working; integrity; generous of self; and respected by his peers) that I feel best reflect what this award represents:

A Person of Integrity:
•As a Nuheat salesman, Paul has always shown absolute honesty with customers around potentially awkward issues of pricing with projects, discount levels and non-exclusivity
•He never bad mouths our competitors; is an ambassador for our industry
•He deeply appreciates all of the team and support structure at HQ
Respected by peers:
•Pauls team would do anything for him because they know he would do the same for them
•He makes us all laugh a quality that is particularly appreciated with the challenges of the last few years.
•His fellow regional managers respect him for his energy, work ethic, sense of humor, industry knowledge and experience.
•Is a humoristic leader and hence a good communicator.
•Paul is very human and understanding and is committed to excellence.
• Is a great listener Paul has a level of bouncebackability second to none in the toughest of situations. Hes got a great trait of customer focus, he believes as I believe its what the customer wants and needs that is important.
Hardworking:
•Paul has always had a vision for the Eastern Region and Nuheat as a whole that has manifested itself in results like landing landmark NYC projects, becoming AIA education providers, challenging our Technical Services Department to become just that and strategically knocking out competitors with Freeze Protection
•It is not an unusual day for Paul to catch the 6 am train from Fairfield to come to Millburn or get on the road with his guys and be on the 6pm train home. Paul has a powerful work ethic and sets a strong example for his team.
•Paul would never say no to any request from the Exec, Finance, Ops, Marketing or CCT he is a team player and keen to reciprocate the support he receives.
Generous of Self:
•Paul served his country as a Marine
•Paul is a devoted father, husband and grandfather
•Paul used a weeks vacation last year to help build homes for the poor and disenfranchised in rural North Carolina

Paul is the definition of giving..time! He has always made time for me and what I want to do when I come to the East Coast. He will go out of his way to make sure my time is filled with constructive meetings and quality contractors. Even though we put in insanely long hours the time flies by. I look forward to every time I get a chance to travel to the east coast to spend time with Paul. He makes everyone he comes in contact with feel important. He has a way with his dude, hows it going attitude that puts most people at ease. Or if there is a problem its something like man, I cant believe this happened. If I didnt know he was from Chicago I would say he was from Southern California. Family...nothing more important. I have not been to Connecticut once where I have not been invited to the house to spend time with his family. One of my fondest memories was hearing his son Zack practise his roll as George W Bush. When I think of Marilyn I think who would she be proud to be associated with and Paul is a natural. His giving personality and his go-go-go attitude is how Marilyn lived her life.
