Paul Vincent Schmit Jr. Calumet City, IL Paul Vincent Schmit, Jr., age 45, of Calumet City, IL passed away Sunday, October 5, 2003 at St. Margaret Mercy Hospital North Campus, Hammond, IN. He is survived by his parents Paul and Sue Schmit of Calumet City, IL; sister, Diana (fiance Mark) Schmit of Calumet City, IL; niece, Rebecca Schmit; aunts: Sara (Al) Offutt of Nashville TN, Lynn Yaghoubian of CA and Nan Furmanski of Hobart, IN. He was preceded in death by brother Scott Schmit and grandparents Clair and Lillian. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2003 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Knock Catholic Church, 501-163rd St., Calumet City, IL with Fr. Patrick Lyons officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Crown Point, IN. Friends may call at the Geisen Funeral Home, 109 N. East St. Crown Point, IN, on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 from 2 to 6 PM and 7 to 9 PM. Mr. Schmit will lie in state at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Paul was a graduate of Thornton Fractional High School North in 1976 and was a student at Governor's State University. Paul enjoyed attending the Chicago Blues Fest every year and was an avid collector of NASCAR diecast. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or a Charity of your choice. Mr. and Mrs. Schmit and Family,

I am very sad to hear of Paul's passing. I do believe he is in Heaven - sharing in all of God's glory and love. I will pray for him, as well as for those he has left behind.

Paul was one of my best friends from 1st grade through past high school. A lot of my past, and my present and future, are based on things that we had done together. I do recall my first call to my now deceased wife Shirlee was made from your house. That simple phone call lead to our marriage and ultimately to two beautiful children. This is only one instance of the fun times we had together. We had thousands of them...

I will deeply miss him.

I will pray for you all.

Be strong and carry on. As we are all born, we all must die. It is the times between life and death, that make us sons and daughters of Christ.
