Paul Schneider Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 7 to Sep. 8, 2017.
Paul Thomas Schneider passed away September 5, 2017 at his home in Blackfoot, Idaho surrounded by his family.
He was born October 8, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Paul James and Evelyn Marie Gogstad Schneider. He grew up and attended school in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin where  he graduated from Badger High School in 1960. He then transferred to the Brown Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota to become a radio announcer. Upon completion, he took a job at KLIX in Twin Falls, Idaho and he moved himself to Idaho in his new 1965 Ford Mustang.
While in Twin Falls, he fell in love with four year old Marcy Herrick, and married her mother. He adopted Marcy in 1967. A son, Aric, was born to this union in 1971. The marriage later ended in divorce.
Paul completed his college education at Idaho State University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Speech with a rhetoric emphasis. Following graduation, he started working for Idaho Power Company as residential salesman. It was here that he met Toiny Erickson, who was a home economist for Idaho Power Company. They were married December 28, 1973 in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on September 17, 1977. To this union four more sons were born; Layne (1974), Kyle (1976), Neil (1980), and Darin (1981).
Paul worked for Idaho Power Company in Pocatello, Blackfoot, and Salmon. After 25 years of service with the Power Company he retired as District Manager. Paul then worked for Lemhi County, Bureau of Land Management, and Bingham County upon returning to Blackfoot in 2000.
Paul again retired in 2015 to complete many projects of his own. He loved helping other people and could talk to anyone. He enjoyed traveling, preparedness, computers, genealogy, the outdoors, building machinery, Walker lawn mowers, and creating things he could build.
Paul was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as Bishop, High Councilman, Counselor, Executive Secretary, Young Men's president, teacher and nursery leader. At the time of passing, he was serving as Guest Service Missionary on Temple Square/ Conference Center in Salt Lake City.
Paul is survived by his wife Toiny; daughter, Marcy (Craig) Funk of Ammon, ID; five sons, Aric of Salem, OR, Layne (ShaLa) of Johnstown, Co, Kyle (Kam) of Lehi, UT, Neil (Debra) of Blackfoot, ID, and Darin (Keshone) of Blackfoot, ID; brother, James Robert Schneider; nineteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Rose LDS Chapel, 403 N 150 W in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and family from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at Hawker Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Groveland Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.

Toiny and family,
We want you to know how much we appreciated everything you have done to help our family. We loved living in Salmon and having you be our bishop. You have helped us through some hard times and helped our children so much.
One of the main reasons you moved to Salmon was just to help us. Such a difference in our children's lives.
We wish the best of everything for you and your family in the days ahead.
We love you all. Dale and Carma Herbst and family

We will never forget the Schneider family when you lived in salmon
You helped our family through some big trials and were always there for us. Sometimes I think you moved to salmon just for us, but everyone there feels the same way.
Always so forgiving and thoughtful of everyone
Bishop was a great man and we love you all very much

Darin and Family,

Darin I can only imagine the joy you brought your father. I know that family means so much to you. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dad; know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Dearest Toiny and Family,

Gene and I were heartsick to hear of Paul's passing. We had looked forward to visiting with you both during the fair again, but the Good Lord must have had a project in heaven only Paul could manage.

His kind, gentle manner and "friendly, ready to help" attitude, will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Love and prayers always.

Toiny and Family,

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved husband, father and grandpa.

I feel so fortunate and grateful that I had the pleasure of working with Paul for several years during his time with Bingham County.

I consider him a friend and feel that because of who he was that many other people will feel as I do.

My heartfelt condolences go out to all of you. May God Bless you all during this time.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Robertson
