SPRING HOPE - Paul Madison Sykes, 93, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at home with family on Sunday morning, November 27, 2016. He was born on September 16, 1923 in Nash County to the late Ed and Minnie Sykes. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Swanson Sykes, daughter, Donna Sykes, brothers, Joseph and Gerald. He was a lifelong member and deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Paulette Griffin and husband George Allen, Gail Moeller and husband Bill, Sandra Walker and husband Buddy, Pam Nunez and husband Raul; two brothers, Lervern and Eslie; three sisters, Beulah Hudson, Myrtle Harris, and Magdalene Bartholomew; seven grandchildren, Timmy, Terry and Tyler Mills, Melanie Brown, Lauren Moeller, Amanda Hackney and Jesse Sykes; 9 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor, Trey, Taytum and Davis Mills, Madison and Spencer Brown, John Paul and Katherine Gail Hackney.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening November 29, 2016 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate Paul's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Chet Harvey and Rev. Frankie Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.

Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 4848 Pleasant Grove Church Rd. Nashville, NC 27856 or to Hospice of Nash and Palliative Care, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
