Paul T. Jacques Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 17 to Mar. 18, 2023.
JACQUES, Paul T., of Medford, late Tir Connell Avenue Waterford, passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Waterford, Ireland to Patty Jacques (Carew) and the late John Jacques. Beloved husband of Caroline (Kelley). Loving father of Hannah, Liam, and Niamh Jacques. Dear brother of John Jacques of Prague, Barry Jacques and his wife Michelle of London, Ken Jacques and his wife Maureen of Allston, Ray Jacques and his wife Philomena of Headford, Ireland, Helen Jakubowski and her husband Matt of Newton, Karl Jacques and his wife Dee of Waterford, Ireland, and the late Anne Geary and her surviving husband Conor Geary of Waterford, Ireland. He is also survived by his cherished mother-in-law, Kay Kelley of Watertown, his in-laws and fellow out-laws - Margaret, Laura, Joe, Susie, Katie, Sarah, Chris, Ellen, Steve, Pat, Jeff and Heather, and all his adoring nieces, nephews, relatives, and close friends.

Paul was a true gentleman - just a real good, salt of the earth guy! He found wealth beyond belief in the simplicity of life. He was enriched with a deep appreciation for life, the most important thing being quality time spent with family and friends.

He was the eldest of the eight kids to John and Patty. He was a great big brother, protector and friend. Paul emigrated to Boston where (after fun with friends) he settled down and went on to become a great husband to Caroline (they met at the Kinvara in Allston of course) and a super Dad to Hannah, Liam & Niamh. He loved his family with all his heart. We were all truly blessed to have had him in our lives!

Never forgetting his strong Deise roots, he visited often. Jakey loved his trips home to go hunting with his best friends James & Paddy, watching a pointer or spaniel rise a pheasant or snipe. He loved watching the Waterford hurlers and loved the craic in the Roanmore with the neighbours. He roamed the countryside nonstop and spent endless hours in Woodstown and Creadan Head (always followed by a pint in the Saratoga). On the opposite side of the world, he made us all feel like close neighbours.

Here, in Medford, he was a busy, non stop Dad and coached the kids soccer teams for roughly twenty years - never missing a game. He left a great impact on so many kids' lives. He was always found on a Saturday morning at the fields coaching, helping the referees, or encouraging the opponent. He spent his summers on the beach here in Massachusetts, making happy memories with his family on Cape Cod. He was always the first Dad in the water wanting to swim alone and do some laps, to being climbed on like a boogie board, swinging kids from his arms. Paul was always excited to entertain his kids, nieces, and nephews. Paul loved his dog walks in the woods. He was never one to sit still and was always the guy you called to fix or make something, or simply enjoy a quiet evening by the fire - outside or in.

Paul will be missed by so many friends and family members both here in Massachusetts and at home in Waterford. Our hearts are broken, and his void will remain unfilled. But, we'll move forward together, holding Paul in our hearts forever and try to make our guy proud. The Gentle Giant that was our Paul Jacques, May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, on Monday, March 20th from 4-7PM. His Funeral Mass will be held in the church on Tuesday, March 21st at 11AM. His Funeral Mass will be live streamed on the Church's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SaintRaphaelParishMedford. His Burial will be celebrated at a later date. This is a tough one. Paul Jacques was (and always will be) the best! I have never met a nicer, funnier, kinder, sassier person all rolled into one. We are proud to call him our friend, and he will be in our hearts forever. We love you with all our hearts, Paul, Caroline, Hannah, Liam and Niamh
