Paul E. Zike, 71, Freetown, passed away at 3:53 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Zike had worked for many years at Arvin's in Columbus. He was a carpenter who enjoyed nature whether he was hunting or fishing, gardening or watching birds. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he enjoyed singing country western songs. He had been baptized at Mount Nebo Church many years ago.
Born Aug. 20, 1940, in Jackson County, he was the son of Bruce E. Zike and Mary Wadsworth Zike.
Survivors include his son, Ronald Dean (Michelle) Zike, Freetown; his best friend, Susan Fee Zike Heller; one sister, Sharon (Bud) Kirts; four brothers, Larry, Lloyd, Jim and Robert (Faye) Zike; three grandchildren, Brittani McKinney, Shaylee Zike and Ashton Zike; and two great-grandchildren, Cole Timothy Benton and Zoie Lynn Benton.
He was preceded in death by one son, Paul Timothy Zike; two sisters, JoAnn Cheek and Carol Steenbarger; one brother, Jerry Zike; and an infant sister, Nona Ruth Zike.
Scott Erwin will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown, with burial and military rites taking place at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

We are so sorry for your loss of Paul he will be sadly and truely missed by everyone that ever met him. He was a great guy that had a great sense of humor.

He will be missed. He always had a way of making people feel good when they had seen him. His sense of humor will be remembered for many years to come. Just know he is no longer suffering and is always watching over his family.

Paul was a childhood friend of mine. I used to go to his house after Sunday school at Gorbett's Chapel quite often. We would ride on the fenders of his Father Bruce's old model A Ford. My best to his family.
