Pattrick, Emily & Parker, Thank you for including me in your mournng process. I don't know what I would have done, if I couldn't have talked about Paula as much as we did together. I am so sorry about Jim. It just doesn't seem fair. I miss Paula everyday, things happen in my life that I would normally share with her. Please, let me know if I can help with anything. Em, you are always welcome at our home. Love you guys!!

Patrick,Emily,& Parker;
Thank you all for today. I know it had to be difficult, but, really what isn't these days? I know Paula would be very happy!! And we got to help some very special children in the process of paying respect to "EVERYONES" Paula! I know we feel that way, because we all love her so much! Thanks again, the day meant so much to my entire family.

Dear Pat, Emily and Parker. I just found out about Paula and just wanted to send my deepest sympathy. Jessica and Emily were in orchestra together at Tates Creek Middle School and every time I saw Paula she was always smiling and laughing. I will never forget the first time I met her and thought to myself how genuinely nice she was and Jessica always thought of Emily as a good friend and missed her so much when she went to LCA. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers and if there is anything we can do please don't hesitate to call on us.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I haven't been on here since the funeral. It makes me smile to read about Paula, it somehow makes me feel alittle closeer to her. I had no idea I would miss her so much, so soon! I can hear her beautiful laugh and see her wonderful smile and I can't help, but to giggle.I really missed her on her birthday, I think all I did was pray & cry. Lyndsey, Logan and I came by the house that morning and we talked to Emily outside, I just couldn't make myself get out of the car. I love all of you! Please call if there is anything I can help do.

Today is your birthday Aunt Paula and I just wanted to say how very special you were to me. I can't express in words how much we miss you already. You were always there for me from the time that I can remember. Although your life was taken from here in this world, I know someday that we will be together again in heaven. You have two wonderful children and we love them so much. We are praying that our family will find peace and understanding as to why this had to be. We love you Emily, Parker and Patrick.

Dear Patrick, Emily and Parker,

It was an honor and pleasure to work with Paula. There is something very rare and special to arrive at work each day and see a friend like Paula-always in a positive mood. Paula filled us in on the latest family happenings. It was clear she loved you all so much. Patrick, when you were on hurricane duty, Paula would smile and tell us about the "great" motels and restaurants you delt with. Emily, your Mom would smile and tell us about your adventures at school and your soft ball games. Parker, your Mom would smile and tell us about your boyhood adventures and how cool you are. You will always keep those memories. We will always keep Paula in our hearts and you in our thoughts and prayers.

Love, Munro & Katherine Steckler

PAULA.....
Wife of Patrick, Mother of Emily and
Parker, Friend to all , keeper of Sugar
and Scamp and will be missed by all.

From the time we met that first day of my freshman year at P-burg high
you were a friend and little did I know how many laughs we would share for the next twenty five years.
Today I am not laughing but sadness feels my heart for a friend I did not see often but when I did it was like the day before yesterday since we had talked. I am so thankful you have such a wonderful
husband and two beautiful children who love you so much. I am also greatful for the wonderful neighors you have and realize God put you where he did for a reason so you could touch the life of others and they could care for you and help as needed. I will miss you dearly and will always remember your well thought out advise you could give me on a moments notice.
I will always remember
"there she goes"
"here she comes"
you will be missed by all of us here
but you will be greeted by others you
have missed. much love, tamera lynn

I had the pleasure of going to Hygiene school with Paula. I will never forget the smile she had on her face when she and Patrick were first dating! She was always so happy and an eternal optimist! Unfortunately we didn't keep in touch as much as everyone intends to. But she was never more than a thought away. Please know that as long as you feel the love she has for all three of you---she will be alive forever in your hearts!

Patrick, I was so shocked to learn from my Mother that Paula had passed away. I remember what wonderful neighbors you and Paula and the children were when you lived next door to Mom and Dan on Liberty Station Court. My heart is broken by the thought that Paula had to leave you and Emily and Parker too soon. I am sorry that we can't be there with you but you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I was so sorry to hear of Paula's passing. Paula and I grew up together in Allen, Ky. Our Mother's grew up together and are great friends. I have so many wonderful memories of times spent at her home and at Mamaw Porter's home with Paula and her cousins. Paula and I also attended the same church in Allen and what a wonderful surprise for me when she became my dental hygienist here in Lexington. We had great visits when I had my appointments and I will really miss her. She loved her family dearly and was a wonderful person. May knowing that she is with Jesus now and having talks with him give you peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Rest in Peace Paula, I love you.

Patrick, Emily, and Parker, There are no comforting words that any of us can say right now, other than knowing the comfort she is feeling right now. I pray that God can comfort you through family and friends, and through all the wonderful memories you shared as a family. My family (even Chase) are praying for you all. As Paula and I had discussed a few times, PRAYER DOES CHANGE LIVES. What a tesimony of God's love and Grace you and Paula have shown during this time to so many you don't even realize. I guarentee that someone if not more than one, saw God through you and your family. Love and prayers

Patrick, I really don't even know where to start or if there is anything to say that I haven't already said before. Paula was such a special person. And, I don't say that lightly, I really mean a TRULY God given gift special person. We are all better people just having the privilege of sharing our lives with her. I promise, I will try to slow down and let the unimportant things go!!! Paula would love that!! I miss her so much, but I know for sure now, that for the first time in 4 years, she is not in pain! But, it is so hard not to be selfish and pray I could have had one more conversation with her. But. I know she knew I loved her and I will never forget what a life-long friend she was. She would always laugh and say "You know Kris, us Floyd county girls have to stick together!" Emily, I love you like you were mine. Your Mom was an incredible lady, always remember her words of wisdom and her laughter. Parker, Your Mom was so proud of you! Don't ever forget her love! I don't know who was luckier, the 3 of you for having Paula as your wife & mom, OR Paula, for having such an awesome family. She loved the 3 of you more than she loved and valued her own life! Your entire family will continue to be in my prayers! I love you all!

I have been blessed to have Paula (Porter) as my dear friend for 31 years. We met through cheerleading when she 14 and I was 16. I knew she was special the first time I met her. She was so friendly and warm, and just so much fun to be around. She has always been a special friend not just to me, but to my family as well. I can just imagine the reunion she and Jennifer are having. Everyone loved her. She had a spirit that drew people to her and she never knew a stranger. She always made time for her friends and was always concerned for them if they were troubled. She was amazing. Always strong, always faithful. She always maintained that wonderful sense of humor no matter what her circumstances were. She was a blessing to everyone who knew her, family, friends, children and animals. Her family was everything to her. Patrick, she loved you, Emily and Parker more than anything. She was a wonderful Wife and Mother, an example for us all. My love and prayers are with you.

Patrick,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. The few times I had a chance to really talk with Paula, I was impressed. She was so open, warm, and tolerant of the "old school" people who surrounded her at the time, listening intently to all of our stories and catching up. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids.

I don't know where to begin. Paula was one of my very closest friends. We met in 2003 when I joined Dr. Carol Smith's practice as a dental hygienist. We worked 8 hours a day beside each other and became very close. We enjoyed so many lunches together with our other good friend and coworker, Deborah. There are so many laughs and great memories that I will never forget. Paula always drove us around and we'd stop at the mall so she could Christmas shop for Emily and Parker and the rest of her family. Paula was there for me during some difficult times and was always there to listen or give advice. I felt comfortable telling her anything. She was one of those rare friends that I could share anything with. When I left Lexington and moved to Louisville this past December, Paula was so encouraging and was so happy to hear I was doing well. I am so blessed I got to see her this past Saturday. She was such a special person. She always told me I tried to plan too much and thought way too far ahead. She reminded me to take one day at a time, and she was so right. I think of that often.
Patrick, Paula loved you so much. I know you all had such a wonderful relationship. So many couples aren't that blessed.
Emily and Parker, your mom adored you all. You meant everything to her. She was so proud of you.
You all will be in my prayers. Not an hour goes by that I don't think of you all.
I love you all,
Shannon
