MOUNT GILEAD -- Pauline V. Collins, age 102, of Mount Gilead, passed away Sunday morning, January 1, 2023, at Morrow Manor Nursing Center in Chesterville.
On October 21, 1920, Pauline was born in Morrow County, Ohio, the older of two children of the late Alvin A. Baker Sr. and Bertha L. (Young) Baker. She graduated from Johnsville High School in the Class of 1940.
For 35 years, Pauline was a relay adjustor for North Electric, from where she retired.
Pauline was small in stature, but mighty in the Lord. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Gilead since 1945. She loved her church and was a prayer warrior. She sang in the church choir and also taught Sunday school.
At home, Pauline enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She loved traveling all over the country and had been to Hawaii three times. She also liked reading, playing Scrabble and watching sports, especially Ohio State football.
Pauline will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful and generous woman who could be rather feisty at times too.
Left to cherish Pauline's memory are her sister-in-law, Dorothy Baker of Marion; nephews: Kevin (Kim) Baker of Marion, Kent (Kathryn) Baker of Ada; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by many close friends and other extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her former husband, John D. Collins and her brother, Alvin Baker Jr.
Pauline's family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the First Baptist Church, 51 W. High St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338. Services to honor and celebrate her life will begin there at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Roger N. Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery.
Pauline's family would like to extend a very special "Thank You" to Hospice of Morrow County, and the nurses, aides and staff of Morrow Manor. For end-of-life care and ministry, a special "Thank You" to Dr. Roger N. Morris, Deb Levering and Gail West.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church.
Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead are honored to have been chosen to serve Pauline's family.
