The memorial service for Peggy Betting, 53, of Rochester, formerly of Aberdeen, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place N.W., Rochester. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. Inurnment was at Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Aberdeen, S.D.

Peggy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, after battling cancer since 2012.

Peggy Hoffman, daughter of Walter and Margie (Pfeifle) Hoffman, was born July 15, 1961, in Ashley, N.D. She lived with her family and Walter's parents on the family farm near Long Lake, S.D., until she was five. The family then moved to Aberdeen where she attended school, graduating from high school in 1980. Peggy worked for Bonanza Sirloin Pit for six years. Peggy was united in marriage to Marc Betting on Sept. 2, 1983, in Aberdeen. They had two daughters, Rebecca and Katie, after moving to Williston, N.D., in 1984. There she started her 30-year career with IRET as a leasing agent then manager for Century Apartments. They moved to Rochester, in 2000 where she managed Sunset Trail then Quarry Ridge Apartments until her death.

Grateful for having shared Peggy's life are her husband, Marc Betting and daughters, Rebecca and Katie, all of Rochester; parents, Walter and Margie Hoffman, Aberdeen; brother, Mike Hoffman Aberdeen; sisters, Susan (Craig) Levi, Colorado Springs, Colo., Linda (Richard) Aman, Mayer, Minn., Rita Hoffman, Aberdeen and Janice Schnabel (aunt and god-mother), Ashley, N.D.; mother-in-law, Toni Betting, Grand Forks, N.D.; brothers-in-law, Mike (Janet) Betting, Burnsville, David (Lisa) Betting, Minot, N.D., Daniel (Ellen) Betting, Columbia Station, Ohio and Paul (Lorraine) Betting, Ellendale, N.D., sisters-in-law, Monica Romsdal, Jamestown, N.D., Cay (Joel) Durheim, Ellendale, Krysti (Lonnie) Mikkonen, Frederick, S.D., and Michele (Brian) Vance, Ellendale; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by seven babies by miscarriage, her paternal grandparents, Julius and Mary Hoffman, maternal grandparents, Oscar and Pauline Pfeifle, father-in-law, Robert Betting and brother-in-law, Francis Romsdal.
