Peggy Louise Bonfiglio - February 18th, 1943 - January 25th, 2025

Peggy Bonfiglio passed away peacefully at Morristown Medical Center, on Saturday morning, January 25th, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 81 years old.

She was born Peggy Meyer on February 18th, 1943. She grew up in the little town of Minster, Ohio, graduating from Minster High School in 1961. She went on to pursue a career in art, studying at the Cincinnati Art Academy and the Dayton Art Institute. Peggy moved to New York City in 1965 and met her future husband, Joe. They married in 1966 and raised two sons, Adam and Christian. The family settled in the Marcella section of Rockaway Township, NJ in June of 1971. After 51 years at her home in Marcella, Peggy moved to Budd Lake, NJ in August of 2022.

Peggy spent over 40 years in Advertising, much of it as Creative Director in the pharmaceutical industry. Along the way, she spent 10 years teaching at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art, before retiring in 2006.

Peggy had a passion for so much in life, including painting, cooking for her 5 grandchildren, traveling with her sister, Gayle, Scrabble with her grandson, Joseph, and taking in countless sporting events, school plays and concerts. Peggy will be remembered by her vibrant smile, her graciousness, generosity, and love that she shared with so many people in her life.

Peggy is survived by her son, Adam and his wife, Nicole; her son, Christian; her beloved grandchildren, Joseph, Marco, Anthony, Carley and Macey; her sisters, Sandy, Pam and Gayle, and her brother, Fred. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Norma; and her husband, Joseph.

A celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Saturday, February 1st, at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Medical Center.

Mrs Bonfiglio was my teacher at NSFIA and she was AMAZING - a great teacher and an even better friend. I had always hoped to look her up and let her know how I turned out - although I am no longer in graphic design I have had a lot of success as a writer - and Mrs. B was an MAJOR inspiration for me. She still is ...

Peggy was truly one of the most genuine, loving and kindest people I´ve ever known. I was lucky enough to work with Peg for 10 years and my memories of her bring such a smile to my face. She made me laugh. There are so many stories from Hastings I hold close to my heart. I have a beautiful box Peg made for me with all little handwritten messages. I read them today and cried and laughed. Thank you Peg for being such a wonderful person. I´ll love you always.

Mrs. B was a tremendous lady. She was a second mom to me in HS and always had a kind word and wonderful smile when I would see her. She even painted this picture of my dad´s favorite golfer, Jack Nicklaus, so I could give him a great 55th birthday present. She was one of a kind. Rest in peace.

Every moment with Peggy was memorable. I was a student at NSFIA and met her on day 1, even though I would not be in he class for a couple of years. We quickly became friends and she even offered me a job at the agency that she was with before I ever took her class. She was my mentor, my motivator, my biggest advocate and most of all my dear friend. I don't think I would have made it in the advertising business without the jumpstart and continued support she gave me (and so many others).
Everyone was treated like family with Peggy. She would show you love and put you in your place if she needed to. She was as real as real can get and I am really going to miss my good friend. God bless!

I'd like to express my condolences to Peggy's family and loved ones. May the memories of a life lived fully bring you comfort and peace in this difficult time.

I was hired by Peggy 19 years ago as a temporary art director to help her art team. 3 weeks later she extended a full time employment offer to me, which I happily accepted. That was the start of my career in pharmaceutical advertising. Almost 2 decades later, I am still at the same company.

Peggy gave me an opportunity and I ran with it. Today I am the head of the creative department at that same place where we met. Peggy retired shortly after she hired me. We met twice between that time and her passing, which is I regret of mine. I wish he had connected more. I hope she knew how much of an impact she had in my life.

I am an immigrant from Colombia. To Peggy I was a talented young professional looking for a chance. She gave it to me. That chance allowed me to build a happy life in this country. I am forever grateful to have met her and wanted to share my personal story with those who loved Peggy, because I believe it offers a snapshot of who she was at her core.

We live in difficult and uncertain times in which humanity sadly appears scarce. If I was entering the workforce today, would I be so lucky again to meet someone like Peggy? I'd like to think so but I can't help to feel that maybe today I would not be so lucky...

Thank you Peggy. Wherever you are I'm sure your spirit smiles down on the many of us that were touched by your kindness. To her loved ones, I hope this wasn't too much... I am sure there is a lot more stories like mine out there and I hope that hearing them helps, if even a tiny bit , in dealing with this great loss.

Saludos y un abrazo.
