Peggy Brandenburgh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 28, 2022.
Born in Rising City, Butler, Nebraska on June 4th 1934 to Edward McElravy and Anna Hayhurst McElravy. Peggy Louessa Brandenburgh passed away April 22nd 2022 in San Diego, CA.

Peggy was a beautiful loving soul, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and soon to be great great grandmother. She adored her seven children, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, to be born soon. Not counting the many people that came to call her mom and grandma along the way as Peggy's life philosophy was "there is always room for one more."

Peggy was a dedicated member of the Navy Wives Clubs of America, NWCA, for over 70 years. She worked tirelessly to live up to the high standards of the organization. Peggy, along with her husband, founded the NWCA Food Locker aboard NAS Miramar, now MCAS Miramar. She continued to run the food locker for more than 24 years determined to make sure no families went without needed provisions.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Robert Brandenburgh, Grandson Anthony "Tony" Madden, sister Maureen Lnenicka, parents Anna & Ed McElravy and many other loved ones.

Survived by her brother Dennis McElravy (Marilyn), brother Melvin "Bud" McElravy (Beverly), her seven children, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Celebration of life to be held July 1st at 1pm at the MCAS Miramar chapel, burial services to follow at a later date in Davis City, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation at https://dtrf.org/donate/ , Children's Alopecia Project at Childrensalopeciaproject.org or the charity of your choice in her honor.

I met Peggy many years ago at the (then) NWCA Foodlocker at Miramar. I was devastated to learn today she had died. There are too many wonderful memories I have of Peggy to recount here... she was like a second mother to me through our years together at Navy Wives club functions and conventions, working bake sales and air shows, and working at the Foodlocker. She was truly full of love and goodwill to everyone, and the world is a much darker place for having lost her.

My mom and dad talk about double dating with aunt Peggy and uncle Bob back in the day. Sounds like they had a great time!!!

I did not know Peggy, but we must be related as cousins. She seems to have led an amazing life helping others. I know her family is proud of her legacy. Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss.

Last time I seen Aunt Peggy was a family reunion, she was one of my favorite Aunt's, still hold the fond memories of living with her and Uncle Bob that summer when I was 15, they were just wonderful and all my cousins, she touched so many lives,
God truly gained a huge angel, and I pray for all her family, and those that loved her as much as I did

You were an Amazing woman with an endless supply of love.
You took me in, and gave me shelter when my life was dark. You never asked questions, instead treated me like one of your own and kept me safe.
You made a difference in my life.
I am Thankful, and honored to have had the privilege to have you in my life.
Heaven has gained an Angel with giant wings that wrapped so many here on earth in love. You are loved, and missed.
R.I.P. Mrs. Brandenburgh (mom)
