Peggy Jo Cates, 79, of Clovis, NM, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX.  She was born on October 27, 1932, in Texico, NM, to Harry and Susie (Fedric) Donahey.  She was born and raised in the Pleasant Hill community and attended the Pleasant Hill Schools until they closed.  She then attended and graduated from Texico High School.  She married Coke Cates on October 2, 1955, in Texico, NM.  She helped her husband on the farm for many years in the Broadview and Grady area.  She loved to play the organ and embroider.  She worked for Farmer's Electric for several years.  She and Coke moved to Clovis in 1989.  She was a member of the Farm Bureau and Parkland Baptist Church.  Her household was always clean and immaculate and was a great cook.  She loved her family and her grandkids dearly.
She is survived by her two sons, Ken Cates and his wife, Vicki of Midland, TX, and Gary Cates and his wife, Kim of Panhandle, TX; one sister, Betty Johnson and her husband, Fred of Clovis, NM; one brother, Jack Donahey and his wife, Donna of Texico, NM; four grandchildren, Courtney, Kenzy, Jett, and Jenna. 
She is preceded in death by her husband, Coke Cates on July 19, 2011, and her parents, Harry and Susie Donahey.
Services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis, NM, with Pastor Don Robertson, officiating and Pastor Wayne Boydston, assisting.  Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, NM.  Casket Bearers will be Lonnie Scott, Lyndon Donahey, Steve Bailey, Jimmy Schell, Kim Nelson, and Gary Miller.  Honorary Casket Bearers will be Marion Ware, John Crow, Gene Jameson, Bill Page, Joe Richards, Monty McNeil, and all her friends and neighbors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clovis Gideon Camp, #U 30030, P.O. Box 44, Clovis, NM; or the Grady Memorial Scholarship Fund, 3875 Curry Rd. O, Broadview, NM 88112.
