Peggy Wells Rodriguez

POCAHONTAS, Va. — Peggy Wells Rodriguez, 79, Box 126 -317 Hillcrest Addition Road, Pocahontas, Va. went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Born in Freeburn, Ky., she was the daughter of the late John C. Wells and Annye Bradner Wells. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pocahontas, Va. and a member of the Pocahontas Women's Club, where she was a past president. She graduated from Pocahontas High School and National Business College. She worked for Consolidation Coal Company as a secretary in the Engineering Department in Pocahontas, Va. She also worked as secretary at the Abbs Valley Boissevain Elementary School. Up until her death she worked alongside her husband of 54 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, exceptional mother and outstanding friend to anyone who knew her. Her heart was overflowing with love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They equally adored her and kept her young at heart. She was looking forward to the arrival of another grandchild in December. She was a pillar of hope and support and could fill any room with sunshine with a simple smile. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, John C. Wells Jr., John Maurice Wells; and one sister, Jean Wells. Survivors: Husband, Frank M. Rodriguez, Pocahontas, Va.; three daughters, Kimberly R. Moon and husband Barron, Pineville, N.C., Kathryn R Tickle and husband Jeff, Pembroke, Va., Karen R. Carter and husband Tracy, Bluefield, Va.; one brother, William R. Wells and wife Bobbie, Johnson City, Tenn.; one sister, Betty Grubb, Lakeland Fla.; six grandchildren, Kristen A Gordon and husband Patrick, Charlotte, N.C., Kristopher D. Ashley and wife Grace, Rock Hill, S.C., Adriana L. Tickle, Pembroke, Va., Skylar B. McClure, Bluefield, Va., Andrew C. Carter and Branson W. Carter, Richlands, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Cameron A. Gordon, Charlotte, N.C. and Carah R. Ashley, Rock Hill, S.C.; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rodriguez Pocahontas Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. with the Rev. William R. Wells officiating. Friends may call from 5-7:30 p.m. prior to the service. Entombment will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Bluewell, W.Va. on Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
