Penelope "Penny" (Mariner) Hodgin, 59, of East Hartford, formerly of Stafford, passed away on October 14, 2006, at Hartford Hospital after a valiant fight with cancer.

Penny was born in Hartford on August 20, 1947, the daughter of Helen (Carlson) and Jesse Mariner of Onancock, Va. She graduated from East Hartford High School in 1965. Penny was an intelligent, caring, and fun-loving person who is dearly missed.

In addition to her parents she is survived by two daughters, Traci Hodgin of Manchester and Amanda Hodgin of Tolland; her brothers Wayne Mariner and wife, Sharon, of Berlin, David Mariner and wife, Cathy, of Canadian Lakes, Mich., Peter Mariner and wife, Betty, of Pungoteague, Va.; her sisters Cynthia Mortrud of Onancock, Va., Karen Howell and husband, Brooks, of Hacksneck, Va.; a dear Aunt, Eleanor Warren of East Hartford, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Penny was predeceased by her twin sister, Pamela Durkin, in January 2006. Penny also leaves her former husband Dennis Hodgin of Stafford.

Penny was a great friend as well as a relative while on the Shore here in Virginia. She was always willing available for work or partying. We miss her but pray for her happy reunion with her twin sister.
