Penelope KOVAL Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal from Jan. 18 to Jan. 19, 2012.
KOVAL, Penelope Gail
April 25, 1942 - January 15, 2012
Heaven is so much brighter today. Penney Koval was a gift to this world - she will be deeply missed by many. Penney devoted her life to her passion for being a mother. Her children were her joy and her delight. She saw children for who they truly were and regardless of their needs or challenges, accepted them unconditionally.
She was an infinite source of support to mothers caring for children with special needs - a constant source of inspiration for many dear friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will always be lovingly remembered by her children Aimee, Nicole, Michael, Jessie, Leanna, James and Madisson. She was predeceased by her baby girls Kaitlyn and Emily. Penney adoringly mothered Heather, Courtney, Mandy, Elizabeth, Kaylee, Rosie, Armand "AJ," Sophie and Isaiah. She is survived by her sisters Gloria and Pamela, nieces Jill and Susan, and nephew Billy, and great nieces and nephews Jade, Alex and Katherine.
Her legacy is shaped by the love, compassion and resilient spirit that graced all facets of her life, and that enriched the lives of her children; her Light will always be with them. If you wish to pay tribute to Penney's memory, donations can be made to a trust fund for Jessie and Leanna Koval. A Celebration of Penney's Life will be held at Ellerslie Road Baptist Church, 10603 Ellerslie Road S.W., on Friday January 20th at 11:00 a.m.

Dear Penny,

I consider myself lucky that i knew a lady as special as you; with you, God sent an Angel on the Earth. You came into my life when i started working with Nicole and you were the best mother and a caring friend who was always there when we needed you. I really enjoyed our cup of coffees together. You will be missed greatly by all of those who knew you. God has plucked the most beautiful flower from Earth. Rest in peace, sweet lady.

Dear Nicole,

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. She loved you very much, she raised you so well; with manners even when i took you out in the community you always show your mothers upbringing by saying please, thank you, yes please,etc....people gave millions of comments about how your mother dressed you so well in matching things from head to toe....She was so proud of you and i know she will continue to be proud you.

We have had the pleasure of having Penney and the kids as our neighbor for almost eight years now. For me she was like my mom away from home, if there was anything I needed help with or advice for my own kids, she was there. She was truly a joy to be around and someone I loved to talk to when we would both be planting or watering our flowers. We will miss penney and the kids, it will never be same here with her gone. I respect her and admire her, and it was a pleasure to know her and see her love her kids and learn from her. Heaven has gained an amazing angel.

Penny, for those who follow after you, to walk in your footsteps will not be an easy task. You gave and gave, and gave even more. I can only imagine the reward waiting for you in the place in which you now reside. Such a big heart and so many, many selfless acts of kindness and service to the children in your care.
I would want to be like you, Penny - we will miss you dearly.

For six years I had the privilege and blessing to have Penney as a friend. She was an amazing woman, always seeing the good in any child that was in her care. When she wasn't talking about her children she was mentoring someone in the process of becoming a foster parent. Penney is loved by many and will be greatly missed. Jessie and Leanna, always know that your mom loved you and was very proud of you!

We wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy, thoughts & prayer during this difficult time to each of Penney's pride & joy; her loving children Aimee, Nicole, Michael, Jessie, Leanne, James, and Madison. Penney's children; Heather, Courtney, Mandy, Elizabeth, Kaylee, Rosie, Armand ”AJ”, Sophie and Isaiah., whom she gave great delight in, throughout the years as their entrusted & loving Mom; because of your life gifts you all gave to your Mom, a star is shining brighter in Heaven in the loss of your Mother Penney.

Our deepest regards to Penney's sisters, Gloria & Pamela, nieces Jill & Susan, nephew Billy and great nieces & nephew‘s Jade, Alex, & Katherine and other family members on the loss of your Sister & Aunt Penney.

Throughout Penney's days she will always be remembered for her special smile, gentle soul, her caring compassionate heart, warm embraces she gave when we needed them, her persistent advocacy role, voice & time for each of her children, she loved so unconditionally.
The memories of her participation when able for the children's support meetings & associations, the cherished parties, events, special planned vacations Penney saw brought joy to her children's lives and “they all attended fashionably as if always going to ‘Red Carpet ‘events”. To all the parents, caregivers, specialists, therapists, Doctors, hospital staff, personal friends & others in need of advice, inspiration & encouragement, direction & support for their children with health & special challenges and their families, who came to know & be impacted by Penney's life changing experiences these past three decades, the memories of Penney each of you have, will always have a special place in our hearts.

Penney, an extraordinary woman & Mother has left this earthly plane for Heaven and the afterlife. While Penney will surely be missed, we rejoice now in her release from an existence that had become a struggle.
As a mother she was devoted. As a human being, she was wise, kind and dignified. Truly a remarkable lady.

Penney, may you soar gracefully through starry nights and endless blue skies. You have reached your tomorrow. Now a time and place has been designed for you, where each of your dreams and hopes you have ever had will unfold one by one. You are home in Heaven rejoicing with your baby girls Kaitlyn & Emily, & others that went before you. We hear your echo; softly whispering (I miss you to) we feel your love in our memories and see you in everything that takes flight. May Earthly Angels spread their Wings and wrap them around each of you daily. Penney will be remembered for the lasting affect she had on all who knew Her.

~Give What's Left Of Me Away~

Now that I'm gone,
remember me with a
smile and laughter.

If you need to cry,
cry with your brother
or sister who walks in
grief beside you.

And when you need
me, put your arms
around anyone and
give to them what you need to give to me.

Let me live in your heart
as well as your mind.
Love does not die, people do.

So when all that's left of me is love,
give me away as best you can.

Love in Christ and Blessings, Tammy Kymberlie (Calgary)
