Penny IOI Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 23, 2018.
IOI, Penny (Shitsuko) (nee KUBOTA) Penny (Shitsuko) Ioi passed away peacefully at Scarborough Hospital on March 17, 2018. Born on March 2, 1924 in Edmonton, Alberta, she is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Hideyuki (Hide) Ioi. Devoted mother to Rick (Kim), Alan (Margie) and Don (Karen). Doting nana to Andrew, Michael, Lauren, Braden, David, Kevin, Christian and Emily. Beloved sister to Bonnie Higashi, Nobuo Kubota and the late Tatsuo Kubota. Penny, a person of faith, enjoyed a long happy life. She was adored by anyone who knew her. Nothing made her happier then being with family and friends, and she dedicated her life to pleasing them. She also loved spoiling her dog Shawn for many years. She enjoyed Odori (Japanese folk dance), ballroom dancing, Japanese theatre, music, singing and bowling. Penny was a popular, gentle and kind person and will be dearly missed. A private family service will be held at Highland Funeral Home – 3280 Sheppard Avenue E., on Sunday, March 25th at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Momiji Health Care Society or Bayview United Church.
