Reading what past friends have said about you touches my heart because you were special. I also read the post from two of your daughters husbands and it shows how remarkable you must have been to have your son in laws write such a touching good bye to a beautiful lady. You did have a sense of humor that not many people probably knew you had. Life gives us alot of heartache sometimes but know you are with your loving parents once again to celebrate the joy of having you with them. Rest in Peace Penny Suzanne. You deserve all the happiness that you have at this moment with your loved ones.

Penny Suzanne, I just heard the news of your passing. I am class of 55, I was a year behind you but you made me feel welcome as the new kid on the block. You had so many of us that had to be around you because if you hung out with Penny you would be accepted in any crowd. You welcomed everyone no matter if they were popular or not. You not once ever judged anyone for how they talked, dressed or looked, you were absolutely special. I had heard years later after school that you married and had a few kids but never knew it was 6. I hope your kids realize was a gem their mother was and how caring of others she was. You are a beautiful angel now looking at us saying, see in the end it doesnt matter how many friends you had in high school or during your life its letting people know how important they are no matter what because in the end only god will see the person you are inside and out. Good bye beautiful angel.

Penny,
I don't have the words, my heart is sad. I miss you already so much. I am going to miss our hours on the phone. The birthday cards, the random voicemails you would leave. Our political debates. I can only think about our late night games of spades, ordering pizza and reading all the gossip magazines, as I told you none of this is true!! You would roll your eyes at me. You brought so much joy and laughter. I am so greatful for our time this summer and my sweet boy finally meeting his great grandmother. He loved you, he had so much fun with you.
You will forever be in our hearts and we love you!
I will see you one day
My the light perpetual shine upon you
Love,
Summer

Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the whole family of sister Penny Suzanne Richards. We have been long time neighbor and friends with her dear daughter Suzie (Todd) Parson and so love her and her family. Having just lost our own father/father in law we know all to well the pain you feel. We keep holding on to the seed of hope in our hearts that the day will come where we will all see each other again. Farewell, until we meet again, with much love Melitta & John Prows

Penny -
I am very grateful for the time we spent together and the privilege of marrying your daughter, Suzie. As I reflect on those times, you always exhibited several attributes that I admired -
* an abundance of common sense
* especially evident work ethic
*undeniable loyalty
* AND the best of all, an enduring whimsical smile that translated into a fun sense of humor
You have left six legacies that will carry on your memory and spirit. You should be proud!
I have a saying on my office wall-
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly worn out and screaming ... "woo hoo, what a ride"
Penny everytime I read this, I will visualize you smiling at me with that whimsical smile.
Ms.Richards you will always be loved and missed dearly.

Penny, your back home where it all began with your parents and sister to give you comfort. Reading your obituary was wonderful that you had your children by your side until the end. Life can throw you some humdingers but the person that is feisty and strong willed will survive the storm as you did. You weathered the storm and in the end the most important thing is not how much money you have but it is having your family with you until the end of this wild ride we call life. Say cheers to your family in heaven for me because you now deserve a eternal life with your parents and sister.

You had a difficult life but know your at peace with your family in heaven is reassuring. When we were young you had such a sparkle in your eyes and hearing about your difficulties over the years made my heart hurt for you because you were always a bright light of sunshine for so many of us in the class of 1954 at East. Your sparkle is probably back because you are now free of any pain and heartache. RIP pretty lady.

Mom, I will always cherish the last moments of you saying I love you 3 times to Tammy and I as we held your hand before you passed. It took all the strength you had to say those few precious words to us that will always be in my heart. I Love you, Suzie

Penny Richards as a beautiful student at East High School, 1954.

Penny was the most wonderful mother-in-law one could ask for, always supportive and available; always remembering birthdays and anniversaries; always present with her grandchildren for laughter, stories, and all kinds of card games. She was ready for deep and engaging conversations on politics, current events, faith, and philosophy. Her mind was sharp and her insights invaluable, even into her final hours. For almost 40 years Penny was there without ever, not even once, being anything but constructive and loving.
Penny was as much a friend as she was a mother-in-law, and she was that way from the moment we met in 1980. Those years had not been easy for her. She lived and took care of her children in a tiny apartment with a worn hand-me-down sofa and make-shift end tables. But she was never without a smile and the desire to sit and talk. Life always had an upside, and Penny seemed to embrace that, come what may.
I loved her for many reasons, and learned to love what she did, everything from Red Lobster and the Village Inn to the University of Utah and their football team. But most of all, I loved (and still adore) her daughter, Tammy, and the woman she is because of the lessons learned from Penny and her grandmothers. And I will forever be grateful that from the moment we met, Penny welcomed me in as her son.

We have such happy memories of Penny. She spent several special occasions with our family, as her beautiful daughter Tammy married our son Bill. From the very beginning we have felt so blessed to have Tammy and her sweet mother Penny in our life. We send our love to her precious family and those who attended to her as her health declined. Four of her children were with her as she peacefully passed from this mortal life. She was loved ❤and will be missed.
