It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Percy Malcolm MacLean on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Percy was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on June 12, 1930. He attended school in North Sydney until the age of 17 when his father was transferred to Halifax with the R.C.M.P. Percy finished high school in Halifax and then attended Halifax Business College to acquire his Accounting Diploma. Percy worked as an accountant at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax before moving to Calgary in September of 1952. Percy and Faustine (Tine) MacIntosh were married in 1953 and in the years that followed were blessed with four children, ten grandchildren and one great- granddaughter. Percy was employed with Home Oil for 34 years, retiring at 55 years of age. After retirement, Percy and Tine had many wonderful trips and made special memories until Percy's declining health prevented him from travelling. Percy is survived by his loving wife Tine; sons, Paul (Beth) and their children, Micky, Jason and Samantha, Todd (Lydia) and Todd's sons Taylor (Nicole) and Tanner; daughters, Skye (John) Flynn and their sons Connor (daughter Brooklyn), Drake and Declan, Erin (Rob) White and their sons Blaine and Brady. "Papa", as he was affectionately called, was so very proud of and loved his ten grandchildren and great-granddaughter dearly. Also surviving are Percy's sister, Margaret (Bob) Dunbar; sister-in-law, Kay MacLean and numerous nieces and nephews. Percy was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Josie MacLean; brothers, Jim, Hugh and Gus and sisters, Marjorie, Kay and Joan. Percy loved to entertain and when friends or family visited the house was always full of laughter. He thoroughly enjoyed his backyard deck listening to his favourite music, and being a voracious reader he always had a book in hand. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will be held at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow at the Church. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends do desire, memorial donations can be made to the charity of their choice. In living memory of Percy MacLean, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
