Sadly, Peter Anthony Cassels passed away at the age of 85 years old on Monday, February 27, 2023. Peter was born on July 8th, 1937 in New York City to Edward and Margaret Cassels. He met the love of his life, Patricia Mary Hanafin in New York City and they married on August 25, 1956. Patricia predeceased Peter on August 26, 2018.

Peter is survived by his loving children; Doreen Tompkins of Poughquag, NY, Patricia Lynn Doria (Ken) of Maynardville, TN and Peter Cassels Jr. (Elizabeth) of Pleasant Valley, NY and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Peter was the youngest boy of six children. He is survived by his remaining sibling, Maryann Costigan (William).

Peter and his wife Patricia were faithful and involved members of St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, Hopewell Junction, NY before moving down to Powell, TN. Peter attended mass at St. Albert the Great in Knoxville until he was physically unable to do so. Peter's Catholic faith always remained an essential part of his life.

Peter had the best stories from his various life activities, adventures, and businesses. His businesses were centered around the automotive industry; whether body shops, gas stations, as a service writer or finishing his long career as a Snap-On Dealer. As far as adventures went, Peter learned how to be a pilot, ride motorcycles, farm, refurbish a house, own a hot dog truck, run heavy equipment, and investigate hobbies such as bee keeping. In early years, this young husband and father, centered life around NYC however a move to Westchester County then Dutchess County, New York always kept family at the center of new projects and interests. In 2018, this devoted couple moved to Powell, TN to be cared for by their daughter Patricia Lynn.

Peter was loved by all whom met him. He had a magnetic personality and loved to make others feel their best. There are so many wonderful stories that surround this handsome soul and if you knew him, then you were fortunate to enjoy a good belly laugh at the adventures of his life. His children are at peace knowing their parents are reunited in Heaven. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, March 4, 2023 at St. Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Church, 3445 Maynardville Hwy, Maynardville, TN 37807.
