Peter Doherty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2024.
Pete Doherty was born in San Francisco on November 30, 1962. His parents were John and Barbara (Verga) who were both from San Francisco though of different backgrounds, Irish and Italian. Pete grew up there and in San Jose before moving in 1977 to Healdsburg with the family where he attended Healdsburg High School. There he played baseball as a first baseman and football as a middle linebacker. He was all-league in both.

Pete married the love of his life Kathleen on May 20, 1995. They have lived in Rohnert Park the entire time. They loved to travel together having gone to Alaska and Hawaii but perhaps their most memorable adventures were when they went to Ireland.

Pete worked for Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada, and Lagunitas. When he worked at Anchor Steam he was required to attend every Giants home game. It was fun at first but became tedious as going to every game was no longer fun but work. Pete enjoyed watching sports and gardening.

Pete was preceded in death by two of his best friends, Mark Weatherby (44 years old) and Dave Seghesio (55), as well as his favorite Labrador-Lucy. Pete used to claim he was doomed to go at 66, but if only that was true for we would have enjoyed his company a bit longer. Pete passed away on November 15, 2024, after a battle with cancer. Pete was only 61 years old. Cancer was a bitch to Pete, but it was the chemo that devastated him.

Pete is survived by his loving wife Kathleen of nearly 30 years, his brothers Larry (Colleen), Bob (Connie) and Jim (Robin). He was a special uncle to seven nephews and two nieces.

Pete will be remembered by Kathleen and his family as being caring, loving, and a wonderful person. He was an inspiration to us all, as he could always get everyone to laugh. Rest in peace Pete. You are truly missed.

A memorial service is going to be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 1pm, at the Seghesio Family Vineyards (700 Grove Street, Healdsburg). No children please.

When I joined Sierra Nevada in 2006, Pete was the entire National Account team. He was a bright, charismatic leader who everyone looked up to. More importantly, he was a person everyone really liked to be around due to his easy-going personality and constant grin. He was a special talent and person and Sierra Nevada would not be what it is today without all he did to put it on the beer map.

Just a favorite guy, and a great member of my team at SNBC. He could always get me laughing or talking about baseball. I really thought I would see him again.

Peter John and Kathleen have been an integral part of my life during the past 29 years and will always be essential to my heart. The past 2 1/2 years for Peter were brutal, but he remained incredibly calm and stoic to the very end. He has taught me many things. By his consistent demeanor he shared the blessing of how to achieve happiness through authenticity. He was such a genuine and delightful human being! I promised him that I would always look after and protect Kathleen, the love of his life and my bestie forever. Here's lookin' at ya little bro! Say hello to Lucy and give her a kiss on the nose.

I will always remember his smile and laugh. He really had a great laugh. We went to some Giant´s games with him and Kathleen. It was always a great time with both of them. I´m going to miss you. Rest in peace. XO

I send my deepest condolences to my dear friend Kathleen and to all of Pete's family. Pete was a great guy who always had positive things to say to everyone. He fought his battle with cancer with courage to the very end. As it says in scripture, Pete has in deed fought the good fight, he kept the faith and he finished the race. The world is a lesser place without Pete but heaven gained a good soul.

There are so many great memories being around Pete throughout the 30 years of our friendship. One particular memory is when Pete and I got off work we would drive to Earnies Tin bar and have a few beers and talk about the day. I will miss my buddy everyday. Love you Pete.

I worked with Pietro at Sierra Nevada, however in a different region, so our face to face interactions were relegated to either National Sales meetings or California chain business meetings. I can´t ever recall a time where Pietro wasn´t sporting his signature big grin or a hearty laugh. He epitomized the word positivity, and would tirelessly seek opportunities for successful results. He used his numerous business contacts to create new business opportunities for not only his region, but mine as well. In addition to our Italian heritage, we both shared a love of Labradors, and it always made me feel at home when I was in NorCal jumping in his car with all of the dog hair on the front passenger seat. I raise my glass of Mt. Gay and diet, and toast you and your vodka Gatorade to the memories and laughs we shared pal!

I remember when me and Pete would be out at Candlestick for so many of those games. Long nights but we always seemed to have a laugh. Pete was such an amazing friend through all the years. Life always kept us in touch and I will always cherish our friendship. Pete was like a brother to me and I will miss the conversations we had.

Always remembered, never forgotten.
