Peter D. Fontaine

Peterborough, NH — Peter David Fontaine, 69, of Peterborough, NH passed away peacefully September 12, 2022, surrounded by his family, at the family Beach House on Moody Point, Wells ME.

He was born on July 18, 1953, son of the late Edward "Eddie" Fontaine and Sandra (Hutchinson) Fontaine. He graduated ConVal High School in 1972 and was proud of his time on the basketball court and serving his friends as class president.

Pete married his loving wife, Linda (O'Neil) Fontaine, August 5th 1978 in Peterborough, NH. They were blessed to have recently celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Pete's first job was at the Peterborough Diner working for his father alongside his brother and sisters. Pete enjoyed volunteering for the Town of Peterborough as a Firefighter & EMT. Pete worked at Sims Press for 36 years, then went on to work at Belletetes, until his retirement in 2018. He then was able to enjoy what he was most passionate about, his family.

Peter loved the times he shared with his wife, three sons, and their families. He especially loved hearing his Grandchildren call him "Papa" and always enjoyed watching them play! When he wasn't being a proud Papa or Dad you could usually find him enjoying his Boston sports teams with his friends, maintaining his lawn, garden and watching the waves roll in at the beach. Pete had so many friends throughout his life that all held a special place in his heart.

Pete was President of the Steven W. Crowe Foundation, which he was so very proud of. He was instrumental in deciding what organizations they supported, as well as choosing the ConVal High School Seniors to receive the Annual Scholarship.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Linda (Fontaine) McMahon of Swansey, NH. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Linda; three sons and daughters-in-law, Chad Fontaine and Sharon Hagenow of Newmarket, NH; Kyle Fontaine and Kelly of Peterborough, NH; Casey Fontaine and Victoria of Newmarket, NH; four grandchildren whom he adored, Addison and Harrison Fontaine of Peterborough, NH and Bear and Sunday Fontaine of Newmarket, NH; one brother, Michael Fontaine and his wife Christine of Washington, ME; two sisters, JoAnn (Fontaine) Cuchetti and her husband JC of Dennis, MA and Pamela (Fontaine) LaChance of Keene, NH; one brother-in-law, Robert McMahon of Swansey, NH; father and mother-in-law, Allen and Janet O'Neil of Peterborough, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 11:00am at the Union Congregational Church, 33 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH, followed by a Celebration of Life at Monadnock Country Club, 49 High Street, Peterborough, NH.

In Lieu of Flowers, Donations may be made to: Steven W. Crowe Foundation, C/O Michael Crowe, 5 School Street, Hancock, NH 03449 For more information: [email protected]

First met Pete when our kids were young and played youth sports. After that I would run into here and there around town. He always had a good word and a smile. The world's a little poorer place when we lose someone like Pete. Our condolences to the family.
