Family-Placed Death Notice
GILYARD, Peter Mr. Peter French Gilyard, age 67 of Atlanta, died suddenly on September 13, 2012. He was the owner of Brookhaven Bobcat and a veteran of the United States Navy. Peter loved antique cars, hunting, and his greatest passions were Shag Dancing and Beach Music. He was a longtime member of the Atlanta Shag Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #714. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jack Taylor and Thomas Gilyard and is survived by sister, Harriet Gilyard; and daughter, Misty Shea. Uncle Pete was beloved by many nieces and nephews, Denise, Daniel, Pamela, Christopher, Cindy, Sylvia, Peter and Paul; and many great-nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 21st with a reception to follow until 7:00 PM. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.

Pete was a true friend to ALL. He became my friend while we both had boats on Lake Lanier. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for somebody. His friends will truly miss him! Rest in Peace my friend!
