Peter M. LaCava, 71, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Josephine (Sipala) LaCava passed Tuesday, (May 6, 2003) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford he was the son of the late George and Annamarie LaCava and lived in the area most of his life, graduating from Wethersfield High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Peter worked his entire career as a partner and officer of LaCava Construction Co. He was a communicant of the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield and a yearly Retreatant of Holy Family Monastery in West Hartford. He volunteered his time delivering Meals on Wheels and also drove for the group SENSE. He enjoyed reading, travelling, gardening, spending summers in Old Saybrook with his family, and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He was also a member of the Bing Crosby Historical Society. Besides his wife of 43 years Peter leaves his loving children, Maryann and her husband Douglas Bradley of Canton, Peter of Millis, MA, Paul of Lenexa, KS and Patricia and her husband Michael Wheeler of Franklin, MA; his cherished grandchildren, Melissa and Jordan Bradley and Troy and Alex Wheeler. He leaves his brothers, Rocco, Ozzie and his wife Lil, Anthony and his wife Mary, Louis and his wife Janet, George and his wife Dolly all of Wethersfield, Joseph and his wife Judith of Marlborough, Carmen and his wife Janet of Massillon, OH, and sisters; Rosemarie and her husband Paul Palazzolo of Rocky Hill, Julia (Jay) Lombardo and Marie and her husband John Burnosky all of Wethersfield; two sisters-in-law; Helen LaCava and Angela Sipala of Wethersfield; a brother-in-law, Michael Sipala and his wife Michele of Lynnfield, MA as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and devoted friends. Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his brothers, Dominic and Francis; a sister, Ann Cirelli; a brother-in-law, Santo Lombardo; sisters-in-law, Kathleen LaCava and Joan Dorothy Sipala; and a nephew, John R. Burnosky. The funeral is Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hematology Dept. of Hartford Hospital, C/O Dr. David Hild, Fund Development Office, 80 Seymour St., Hartford, CT 06102 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
