Peter Leskow

LESKOW -Peter ,1912-2008, passed away quietly at his home at St. Joseph's, Saskatoon, SK, on April 13, 2008 at the age of 95. He was born on July 6, 1912 on the family farm at Peterson, SK. Pre-deceased by his wife, Mary (Kinal) in 1988; and his parents, Prokop and Dora (Sawcher) Leskow; and stepfather, Harry Shawaga. Also his brothers Mike, John, Joe and his half brother, Steve Shawaga. He will be mourned and sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Peter farmed in the Peterson and Dana area starting in 1937. He batched for several years until he married Mary Kinal in 1944. Although they had no children, they were everyone's favorite aunt and uncle. In those younger years they both worked hard and lived without many of today's amenities. Moving into Dana in 1960 gave him the opportunity to watch his beloved hockey on t.v. When they retired to Saskatoon in 1972 they enjoyed playing cards with friends. Fishing and hunting were also an integral part of his life. Due to his failing health, he spent the last year at St. Joseph's home. The family is grateful to the Sisters and staff for his excellent care. Vigil of Prayer will be held Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Westwood Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St.George's Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 214 Avenue M S. Donation's may be made to St. Joseph's Home.
