Peter Link Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 25, 2024.
Peter Joseph Link, 72, of Wayne, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on September 22. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy; brother, Bob; daughter Megan Salerno and her husband Jeffrey, daughter Julie; and granddaughters Victoria and Emilia. He was predeceased by his parents, Florence and George Link, and his older brother, George Jr.

Born on October 16, 1951, in Paterson, NJ, Peter grew up fishing with his father and brothers, a passion that carried on throughout his life. One of his greatest joys was being on the water, and he cherished the moment he witnessed his granddaughter catch her first fish shortly before his passing.

Peter served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army for 21 months during the Vietnam War, having been drafted just three months after turning eighteen. He took pride in his service, which included time on various bases in the U.S. and Germany. Over the years, he traveled extensively and visited 47 of the 50 states, thanks to his time in the military and adventures with friends.

After his service, Peter dedicated over 40 years to the carpentry trade, a profession he was immensely proud of. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing trips with friends and his brother, as well as spending time with his grandchildren.

In accordance with Peter's wishes, he will be donated to science. A celebration of life will be held in November once his remains are returned to the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
