Peter McCloskey

McCLOSKEY _ Peter Joseph August 2, 1924 - November 15, 2007 It is with much sadness that the family announces the death of Peter McCloskey, beloved husband of Lillian McCloskey of Calgary, who passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the age of 83. Peter enjoyed talking with and learning about people. He also had a keen interest in "how things work", especially involving building construction, social policy or current events. He had a generous nature; always willing to help others and he will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of style. Peter was in the RCAF from 1943 to 1945 and continued his love of flying for many years. He was in the plumbing and heating business until 1955, and then joined Simpson-Sears as a department store manager, working in various stores across Canada. In 1970 he joined Ontario Hydro and retired as Divisional Superintendent in 1989. Peter enjoyed flying, golfing, shuffle boarding in Florida, lacrosse, walking, playing bridge, and the many interesting conversations he had with friends. Peter is lovingly remembered by his wife Lillian of sixty years, his son Jim (Beverly), his daughter Nancy (Roy Collver) and his son Leo (Marie), and many friends and family who cherish his memory. Peter is the last remaining family member of Leo and Bridget McCloskey of Essex, Ontario, predeceased by five sisters and three brothers. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Calder and the nurses, staff and volunteers of the Sarcee Care West Hospice unit for their loving care of Peter and to the many friends of Sierras West for their kind deeds, thoughts and prayers and also to Peter's Air Force buddy, Bruce Mahoney for his daily visits and friendship. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Simcoe, Ontario with Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Simcoe, Ontario. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com .
