He wrote a book, VOICES HEARD FROM THE GRAVE, of the lives and stories of the people buried in Greenwood Cemetery. He dedicated significant time to researching his parents' ancestry. He traveled to Italy where he visited the childhood village of Pettenasco where his great-grandfather, Angelo Miazza, grew up.

He was an accomplished runner completing many local 5K races and in California. His proudest run was winning the Senior Olympics for his age group in Minneapolis several years ago, accompanied by his running coach John Michael Chudy.

He and a fellow Estonian student/seller knocked on Peter's door, explained what they were doing and asked if had an extra room they could use for the summer. They were clean-cut young men with a good command of English, so Peter invited them in for the summer. Peter's home became a gathering place for all the other Estonian students working in the area.
