Mr. Peter “Peppy” Bernard Raynak, age 87 years, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015 after a lengthy illness in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Peppy was born on July 17, 1927 in the East End on McIntosh Street to Mary and Stephen Raynak. He was a lifetime resident of the city and of St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church. In his younger years, he was a sailor on the Peninsula Tug and then spent years as a sheet metal worker for United Grain Growers. After all his years of hard work, Peppy retired and it was wonderful. Outdoor trips with Rita, hunting, creek fishing, bass fishing with his siblings Mary and Joe on the pontoon, tending to his garden grapes and his 1986 Cutlass Supreme. Family and friends filled his life with joy. For this and so much more, we are truly grateful. He is at peace and we will forever and a day miss him.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rita and their four children Catherine, Margaret, Peter and Monica (Darryl); his 6 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters; sisters Mary Andrychuk and Ann Beda and sister in-law Sonia Raynak. He will be greatly missed by Keltie, his 4-legged nurse at home and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Benny, John, Albert, Stevie and Joseph and sisters and brothers in-law.
Funeral Services for the late Mr. Peter “Peppy” Raynak will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, March 9, 2015 in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James with Fr. Rey Ronquillo officiating. Interment will take place in Mountainview Cemetery at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
