Peter STEELE Obituary
January 12, 1930 - October 15, 2012
Passed peacefully at home with his family at his side, surrounded by love, at age 82. Best friend and loving husband to Joyce (nee Voisey) for 63 years. Loving and loved father to Steve (Louise), Jeff (Debbie), Brenda (Gene), Mark (Deborah) and David. Proud and cherished Grandpa to Chantal (Phil), Christopher, Brent (Katie), Shane, Brittany, Justin (Tiffany), Melissa, Samantha, Stephanie, Sebastien and his great-grandson Zachary. Uncle Peter to David (Gloria), Glenn (Karen) and Jennifer (Cihan). Also survived by his brother-in-law, Leslie Voisey, nieces Leslie, Sherry, great-niece Nancy (Mike) and great-nephews Scott (Tania), Nathan and Aaron. Predeceased by his brother David and son-in-law Gerry. Peter will be remembered for his big blue eyes, practical jokes and his great big smile. Along with Joyce, Peter cared for many foster children that spans for over 50 years, and was a loving foster Dad and Grandpa. Five boys are still at home with them. Peter was a scout leader for 32 years that started in London, ON and ended in Ottawa with a troop for disabled children. Family will receive friends at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) on Tuesday, October 23rd from 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate Peter's life will be held on Wednesday, October 24th at St. Augustine's Parish (1060 Baseline Road, Ottawa) at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
