I did not know Pat or Phil but my heart goes out to their family at this difficult time. I know too well the pain they are experiencing as I lost my dear father in a plane crash a year and a half ago. I know it may seem strange having a stranger signing their guest book but there are not many people out there that have experienced this loss. I read of the terrible tragedy and felt compelled to write. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. For once you have tasted flight, forever you will walk with your eyes turned skyward...(L.DaVinci)

I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Phil and Pat.
I knew Phil through the CSA Fall Protection Technical Committee. A greater, kinder, gentler man you will never meet. I was humbled by his knowledge, his experience, his sense of adventure and mostly his joie de vivre.
I will miss Phil and wish him and Pat an equally loving and exiting afterlife.
My deepest sympathies to the family.

Dear Philip and Patty. Even though we never got to talk much, living with you for 2 years has been a pleasure. We still go up the stairs, thinking we are going to bump into you. You were about to move away, but we never doubted that you would be in our lives for a long time. Not totally untrue, because you will now live in our hearts forever.
May the hand of the Creator guide and shelter you through your next journey.

Mr. Clemmons
Whenever you were calling us, you were always asking if we were missing you.
Rest assured that we will miss you forever.
I will miss you forever not only for the great employer you were but especially for the great person you were.
Your smile, your laugh , your good mood, your sense of humor and the list could go on .
I loved you very much and I always will .
I think I am a very lucky person having known you.
May you and Pat rest in peace, together as we always knew you , together.
Sincere condoleances to all your families and friends

I Had the oportunity to work with Phil for over ten years on the CSA fall protection comity.
Just a great guy! The type that just does not come by often!
Do not know how his knowledge and his sense of humour will be replaced.
I guess I will never get that plane ride he promised me!
A bit late but that news just hit me like a brick, when I got back home from a trip up north!!!

I am so saddened by the unexpected and tragic loss of Phil & Pat. They would attend ISEA meetings and functions and I always knew that I could count on both of them to lift my spirits while in their midst.
During our Fall meetings in Arlington, Pat would always come by every morning to the registration desk just to say "hi" and see how we were doing and shoot the breeze...and bring with her lots of laughter!
I hope they are resting in peace, with the quiet knowledge that they have had such a huge impact on so many with their "little ways"....

There are certain people that God put on earth, to make a difference.
Philip and Pat were two of those people. We met Philip at Fyffe, al at the UFO Days event. My daughter flew with him that day and we have been helping with the balloon crew now for four wonderful years. My daughter Nicole looked at him as if he were her own grandfather, and he at her the same.
Philip and Pat touched all of us and we will miss them very, very much. You have been an angels for years, now you have your own wings.
We will see you again. We love you. Blue skies for now.

Phillip & his wife were really great people. I was part of his balloon crew at the UFO Days in Fyfe, Al. I also flew with him once in Decater. They were nice people & I'm going to miss them both. May you fly forever more through the endless skies of heaven. Love you both.

My father, Tara and I are very saddened about the sudden loss of Phil and Pat. My father has known them since they started ELK and has always held both Phil and Pat in the highest regard. Tara and I also have a great deal of respect for Phil and Pat - one of the most difficult endeavors is to not only start a business but to grow it so successfully that it is nationally known. We will miss speaking with them - especially with the perenially jovial Pat. May God welcome them with open arms.

I first met Phil more than 10 years ago, as a business relation evolved into a friendship, I came to appreciate his entrepreneurial spirit, his irrepresible optimism and, best of all his total honesty and firm committment to his responsibilities thru good as well as bad times.
Both Phil and Pat will be sorely missed in Montreal where they had well merited the title of honorary citizens.

Philip's life was defined by the help he gave to others. I witnessed his kindness and compassion, and his wisdom, through his postings on WebWhispers, and then later, when he was a board member of the International Association of Laryngectomees, and eventually, its President. He was a role model, and an inspiration, to those he encountered. He was always the solution, not part of the problem. He was always eager to pass on a good joke. He collected pictures of the sunrise. He loved to dance and listen to country music. He was never afraid to take responsibility for a mistake, and then immediately correct the situation. He liked to drive with the top down. He loved to travel, and never stopped trying to learn something new. He exercised daily, part of his self-discipline. He enjoyed good food. He recognized people's faults and saw them as the variety of human nature, not as something to criticize. He loved to see children smile. He was a great writer, and dreamed of someday composing the Great American Novel. He embraced life to its fullest in all he did, work or play. We are better off for having known him, and this earth will feel the loss now that he graces the heavens.

I met Philip at the Alabama Jubilee Balloon Event. He was a new Hot Air Balloon Pilot and did not know me but still shared his crew with me. It was that flight that it wasnt supposed to rain but it did while several were still in the air, but with his assistance and his crew I got packed up without getting poured on. One immediately could see his love of flying and love of life. I will miss not seeing him at Jubilee this year.

What a tragedy to hear. Phillip had such a great reputation in the industry He was well liked and had a strong following of customers. His competitors knew him and liked him as well. He hired our company to represent Elk River 9 years ago and we all have a strong respect for him. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all of our group.

I've always felt that our relationship was one of Mentor to student. I'll always be gratefull toward life having made our pathes to cross, allowing us to walk togeter for a while. You were a man of rightness, precision and thruth and you've set marks I can only hope to reach with experience. You teach me a lot and will always be in my heart. I will never forget our challenges and friendly competitions but most of all the fun we had in your office Boss. We miss you already.
I hope you enjoy the sight up there.

Philip Clemons was a person you did not have to meet to know. I never met Phillip, but I knew him. He was one of the most uplifting respondents on the WW mail list. Many times, I have seen the mail glutted with opinions and statements that clouded the waters more than they really helped. Phillip would send a note and in a very few sentences, he would clear the subject up for all concerned. I, and I think everyone else, accepted his statements as factual and final. He stated things in a manner that left no room for disagreement.
This kind of person is rare indeed. In our lifetime, we will know very few men, or women, of Phillip’s caliber.
He refused to be negative. He was a working model of the old song – “Accentuate the positive – Eliminate the negative”

I met Phillip the very first time he came to an IAL annual meeting. Through the years, we have worked together as boardmembers and although it did not always go as we wanted and things happend,we always got along.Business was business and outside that, we had a lot of fun. I will miss him and wish his son, daughters and other family members the strenght to go on after this terrible loss.I cannot imagion how it must be to loose both parents at one time. I keep thinking about one thing, he died doing what he loved and he was not alone.
Fly safe Phillip & Patricia, may God guide you through heaven's gate and keep you in His arms

Phillip
was among the best people I have ever known. He was an inspiration in both
word and deed to those facing cancer of the larynx that one could not only
survive, but thrive and live life to the fullest. Philip had a lust for life

animals demonstrated the kind of decent and wonderful man he was. He will

community he inspired. He was and is much loved. Our thoughts are with his family.

I met Phillip through our online ballooning organization, the International Aeronauts League. He was instrumental in encouraging me on several levels... earning my fixed wing flight certificate, forming the League, and through general discussions about business and life. He joked that his membership in the ballooning IAL was not the first IAL he belonged to... the other was a society concerned with his advocacy about larynx cancer.
I will miss him and hope he is not soon forgotten by anyone. May he and Patricia rest in peace.
