Philip Martin "Phil" Fuhr, born August 26, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY died peacefully on November 28, 2023 in Gainesville, Florida age 77.

A graduate of the University of Texas El Paso, where he met his first wife, Sheryl Halpin, Phil was an Accounting/Finance major. From 1969 to 1970 Phil served in the US Army stationed at Quang Tri during the Vietnam War. In 1980 Phil relocated his family to Gainesville Florida. He was a dedicated member and past President of Bnai Israel Congregation

Phil was known for his firm yet tender nature and love for laughter. He had a passion for sports, especially cheering for the Florida Gators, and cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

Survived by his loving wife, Karen Fuhr, children Frederick (Rick) and Tisha Fuhr, Alison and Alex Fraga, Jacqueline (Jackie) and Matthew (Matt) Stancel, grandchildren Matthew Fuhr, Madison Fuhr, Alexander Fraga, Reese Stancel, Cameren Stancel, Sadie Crunden as well as nieces Carrie Gutierrez, Donna Slater, Francine (Frannie) Guggenheim and nephew Ashley Shugart. Brother in laws Martin Slater and Peter Shugart.

Philip was predeceased by his father Abraham (Abe) Fuhr, mother Freda Fuhr, sisters Gladys Slater, Susan Shugart, and wife Sheryl Halpin Fuhr.

A service with military honors was held on February 16, 2024, at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Wounded Warriors Project.

Phil will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing.
