Marion Baker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 26, 2005.

Marion, better known as "Dolly" for her doll-like size at birth, has been a resident at Kramm Healthcare Center, Milton, since June 9, 1993. Dolly owns her home at 913 Mahoning St., Milton, where she and her late husband so lovingly raised two children, Richard Lee Baker, who lives in Bloomsburg with his wife Kathy, and Arlene Marie Murray who remained a Milton resident with her husband, Robert, to care for her mother. Dolly was the proud grandmother of two, Thomas Arthur Baker, a senior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Michelle Lee Baker, a freshman at Shippensburg University.

Dolly was the daughter of James Edward Starks, who passed on in 1953, and Mary Elizabeth (Troxell) Starks, who passed away in 1952. Dolly is the last survivor of her parents. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Miriam Grace Stump, in 1994, brother, Warren "Pete" Starks, in 1979, and twin brothers at birth. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Dolly was educated in Milton schools. Prior to having her children, she worked at the Milton Mfg. Club and J.J. Newberry. As her children entered high school, she became a sitter for children in the Milton area. Some of these children loved her as a surrogate grandmother and have remained in her life until her timely passing.

Dolly was of the Protestant faith, and a member of Follmer Lutheran Parish, Milton.

The family has asked friends, neighbors and relatives to join them from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton., with the funeral following with Pastor Barbara J. Collins, of Follmer Lutheran Parish and the Rev. Thomas Kramm of Reedsville, nephew of the deceased.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.

Contributions in Dolly's memory made by made to Follmer Lutheran Parish, P.O. Box 72, Potts Grove, PA 17865.
