PHILIP JAMES LONGHURST

LONGHURST, PHILIP JAMES - (known as Phil by many, but as James to his family), age 48, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday evening, September 4, 2013, at Ft. Sanders Regional after suffering a massive heart attack three days earlier. Phil was preceded in death by his mother, Joy E. Longhurst, RN, in 2003; and his sister, Suzanne Elizabeth Longhurst Wood in 2010. He is survived by his father, Philip Longhurst Jr. of Oak Ridge; niece, Alexandra Wood of Daytona Beach, Florida; and nephew, Kyle Wood of Crawford County, Georgia. Phil was an avid photographer and an accomplished massage therapist. He had many interests as well, from panning for gold to repairing anything mechanical. But more than anything, Phil spent his life taking every opportunity to help and do things for others. He had a heightened sense of humor and loved to tease, startle and fool those around him, especially his niece and nephew. A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6th, at 117 Carnegie Drive, Oak Ridge, 37830.
