Phillip "Phil" Lynn Deal

Phillip Lynn Deal, long time resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 21, 2014, at the home of son in Calypso. Known by most as simply Phil, he was 62 years old. Phil had been employed with Alcan Packing Company, Sonoco, and Case Farms. Phil is survived by four children, Michelle Deal Nuckols and husband, Tim, of Hartsville, S.C., Dawn Deal Sutton and husband, Lloyd, of Sarasota, Fla., Jeffrey Deal of Calypso, and Brad Deal of Mount Olive; his grandchildren, Mandy, Courtney, and T. J. Nuckols, Knowlt and Zylea Sutton, Madison, Landon, and Adam Deal, and Hannah Angell; his fiance, Gail Evans, of Goldsboro, who provided comfort and end of life care for him; Jo Deal, the mother of his children, Michelle, Brad, and Jeffrey; a special friend of his son, Jeffrey, Justin Preston of Mount Olive; and a nephew, Shane Goodson of Mount Olive. He was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Jessica Lynn Deal; his parents, John Dudley Deal and Evelyn Hill Deal; and a sister, Faye Deal Goodson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday night, December 23, at 7 at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, followed by visitation. Interment will be Wednesday, December 24, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Friends may also call at the home of his son, Jeffrey, at 236 East Church Street, Calypso. A Tyndall Service.
