Phoebe Watt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 20, 2011.
PRESQUE ISLE - Phoebe "Ruby" Watt, 84, wife of the late Marvin Watt, went home to be with her Lord April 19, 2011, surrounded by her family at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Lerwick, New Brunswick, the daughter of Dudley and Nina (Barcley) Adams. Ruby was a longtime and active member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she served in the missionary guild, the choir, the nursery and several other ministries of the church. Ruby was a very caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Though her main focus was caring for her family, she never compromised her faith and was always ready to share in her special loving way. She and her husband owned and operated Living Word Bookstore, Main Street, Presque Isle, for many years. Ruby is survived by her son, Brian H. Watt of Presque Isle; three daughters, Gloria Nelson and her husband, Don, of Cape Neddick, Carla McCluskey and her husband, Gary, of Presque Isle and Marvia H. Watt of Houston; grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristi, Kimberly, Bethany, Robbie and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Jazmyn, Faith and Dylan; a brother, Omar Adams of Florida; a brother-in-law, Bob Willette of Florida; a special niece, Linda Mastro of Portage; several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Marvin, she was predeceased by two great-grandsons, Ethan and Elliot; one brother and six sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at Bethany Baptist Church with the Revs. James Ackerson and Kenneth Phelps officiating. Relatives and friends may call noon until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery. Those who wish may make gifts to Ruby's family in memory of Ethan and Elliot Broad to March of Dimes, 136 U.S. Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074. So sorry to hear about Mrs. Ruby. We, my Grandson & I, met her several years ago while visiting my Mom {Edith.} She will be Greatly Missed, and I know Mom will miss her dearly. She was such a sweet & caring lady. Always telling me not to keep my Mom out too late when we took her out. We, look forward to seeing her every year when we go up to visit Mom. Rest in Peace Mrs. Ruby.

Carla and family- I want to say a very big thank you for giving me the opportunity to care for and get to know one of the most amazing people i have ever met in my entire life. She was like a grandmother to me and has deinitly left a piece of herself in my heart. I will never forget her or her songs. I plan to sing Rubys songs to my little one as soon as he is born. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss. Your mom was such a special lady, and such a testimony, even in her last years at the nursing home. She always had a song on her heart, and wasn't afraid to share it....often told others about the goodness of God in her life. Sweet, sweet, caring lady - we will miss her so much! Our loss is heaven's gain, that's for sure.

May you find peace in the days ahead with fond memories of Ruby, my friend. I so enjoyed singing with her during music presentations at PINH when I would be there to visit my Mom. Her kindness was great. She joins the other angels in Heaven.

May God Bless!!

Sincerely,
Carmen Bishop Haggerty
