Phyllis Bernstein Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 14, 2025.
Phyllis Martin Bernstein was born on July 24, 1935, in Apex, North Carolina, to Roy Belvin and Pauline Martin. She passed away on Thursday, July 10, at Clemmons Village Memory Care. Known for her active involvement in the community, Phyllis was a cherished member of Centenary United Methodist Church before her diagnosis of dementia and Alzheimer's began to take hold. Phyllis lived a fulfilling life, embracing her passions such as playing tennis, gathering with family and traveling with her beloved husband, Bill. Her career as a nurse at Baptist Hospital and later at Dr. Rhodes in Winston-Salem reflected her deep care for others. Even in her later years, Phyllis continued bringing light and kindness to all those around her.

Predeceased by her first husband, Hinton Gardner Hudson Jr., Phyllis's legacy is carried on by her surviving husband, Bill Bernstein, and their children: Hinton G. Hudson III(Jody), Laura Badgett(Richard), Jimmy Hudson, and Susan Venable(Bill). Her family also includes stepsons Tim Bernstein (Christy) and Michael Bernstein (April). Together, they have eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who will continue to treasure her memory.

A private family service and gathering will be held in August to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her name to the charity of your choice.

I haven't visited recently but Phyllis was like a second mother to me based on time spent in her home in the late 60s and early to mid 1970s. Much love to Jimmy, Hinton, Laura, Susan, Bill, and the rest of the family.
