Today we celebrate what would have been our Mothers birthday, Phyllis Lorene Cope, 86, of Hudson, Illinois, passed away on June 24, 2023, in Loudon, Tennessee. She was born on November 20, 1936, in Hudson, Illinois, to the late Loren and Mildred Starkey.

Phyllis will be lovingly remembered and is deeply missed by her husband of 68 years, Jack Cope, and her children: Steve (Cheryl) Cope, Larry (Karen) Cope, and Linda (Bill) Cope-Backus. She was a cherished grandmother to Marissa (Guy), Stephanie (Darin), Jenna (Joe), Tyler, Anna, and Alyssa. Phyllis was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Caden, Connor, Dylan, Logan, and Owen.

Phyllis was a member of the Hudson Christian Church, where she found solace and community. She lived a life dedicated to her family, faith and found comfort in her religious beliefs.

In her free time, Phyllis enjoyed indulging in her hobbies of gardening, collecting Teddy Bears and crafting. She had a green thumb and made beautiful flower arrangements for her neighbors and she took great pride in her beautiful garden. Phyllis's skilled craftsmanship was evident in the heartfelt creations she made.

Phyllis Lorene Cope's warm presence, kind heart, and unwavering faith will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. Her legacy of love and devotion to her family will live on in their hearts forever.

A private memorial service was held to honor Phyllis's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Hudson Christian Church in Phyllis's memory.
