MILTON - Phyllis C. "Phyl" Helwig, 88, formerly of Centre Town Apartments, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 10, 2005, in Kramm Healthcare Center, Milton.
She was born Dec. 29, 1916, in Mifflinville, a daughter of the late Warren A. and Pearle (Green) Hess. She married Stanley J. Helwig Sr., who preceded her in death on April 2, 1993.
Mrs. Helwig was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, West Milton.
She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Turbotville; Ladies Auxiliary of the Milton Moose; the White Shrine No. 44; AARP; and the MWBA Hall of Fame. She also a past matron of the Order of Amaranth No. 144.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley J. and Ronald R. Helwig, both of Milton; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Sheldon, Earl, Carl, Edward and Stanley Hess; and two sisters, Irene Zimmerman and Fay Hess.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 433 High St., West Milton, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Patricia A. Bennett officiating.
Burial will be in Milton Cemetery.
Contributions in Phyllis' memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 433 High St., West Milton, PA 17886.
Arrangements are by the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
