January 3rd, 1963 - September 27th, 2024
Phyllis was born and raised in Hendersonville NC. Phyllis suddenly went home to be with the Lord, during Hurricane Helene. Jeremiah 29:11; For He knows the plans He has for each of us. She was strong in her faith, and loved her family. She was the oldest of 6; 3 brothers: Jeffrey, Steve, and David Maybin, and 2 sisters; Angela Walker, and Beverly Maybin.
She leaves behind 3 children: Timothy and Crystal Matheson, and Trinity Dalton; 5 grandchildren: Tyler, Kimber, Lexi, Jaxan, & Keegan; 5 great grandchildren: Asher, Alika, Akela, Alianna, Aria; as well as 2 nieces, 4 nephews, several great nieces and nephews and many long time friends. She would help anyone, and never knew a stranger. She will be missed dearly. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be sent to those affected by Hurricane Helene. Please share condolences and memories below, for the family to reference as they grieve.

PHYLISS TOOK ME IN WHEN THE WORLD GAVE UP ON ME,FOR 3 MONTHS OR SO SHE GAVE ME A PLACE TO LAY MY HEAD DOWN WITHOUT QUESTION,I MOVED OUT 2 YEARS PRIOR THE DEVESTATION,I HATED TO GO ,BUT IT SAVED MY LIFE,I CRY EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE SPARING OF MY LIFE,I PROMISED HER ONE THING BEFORE I LEFT THE NIGHT BEFORE,THAT I WAS GOING TO REHAB TO CHANGE MY LIFE,SHWE WAS ASLEEP WHEN I LEFT ,HER HUSBAND MIKE WAS UP ,HE GAVE ME A HUG AND TOLD ME HE WAS PROUD OF ME,IT HURT HIM I WAS LEAVING BECAUSE I CARED FOR THEM,COOKED FOR THEM,WASH CLOTHS,DISHES,CUT GRASS,CLEANED UP AROUND THE HOUSE I EVEN WALKED MAGNUM THE PITBULL.I CANT GET OVER THE TRAGITY,TILL THIS DAY I CRY BECAUSE I FEEL FOR HER DAUGHTER CRISTIE,ONE DAY PHYLISS WAS CRYING AND I ASKED HER WHY ARE YOU CRYING? SHE SAYID TO ME MY KIDS DONT LOVE ME ALL THEY DO IS ASK FOR THIS AND THAT,I TOLD HER YES THEY DO TRUELY BUT THEN I SAID HOW ARE THEY GOING TO FEEL FAILURE IF THEY ALWAYS HAVE SUCCESS?SHE SMILED SO BIG AND I TOLD HER "HEY I LOVE YOU"AND I GAVE HER A HUG.SHE WAS OK OK AFTERWARDS,SHE FINALLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY.SHES WILL BE MISSED DEARLY,AND IL ALWAYS HAVE HER IN MY PRAYERS AND ONE OF THE PEOPLE I WILL TRUELY MISSED.....PHYLISS IM SORRY,YOUR HOME NOW GOD BLESS YOU....YOU WERE ( A MOTHER TO ME ) THANK YOU SO MUCH AND I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU....... Mom, my dearest mother you are my all my heart and world. 90 days left, I was coming home to you, but God had other plans for you. He wanted and needed you. I have to stop being selfish and know I guess it was your time. It hurts so bad the worst pain in my life. I just am so blessed to know I got to hear your voice that morning and your last words to me. Mom I miss you. Thank you for being the best mother to me my entire life, I pray each day for Gods guidance to help me each day without you. I know without him and your voice I could not make this. He has given me strength from you every day. Mommy you are missed so bad each and every day. I promise you to be the BEST MIMI I can, every day, our grandkids will know they had the best nana ever. Thank you for always being by me even at my worst. You will never be forgotten. We will be celebrating the life of you very soon. Mom, I love you always, your daughter Crissy.

She was always kind and tried to help all that she could. She was very good to my grandson Kimsey smith. She made sure he wasn´t without a place to stay. Situation wouldn´t allow me to keep him but she treated him like he was her son. I will miss you Phyllis and you will always be in my heart and memories.RIP kind friend. You certainly will be missed.

One thing I'll remember about my aunt Phyllis is how she always there for me and she loved me so much and She was a big part of my life and we had a special Aunt and Niece bond It absolutely broke my heart in two when I hear that this horrible storm Helene took my sweet loving Aunt's They'll be missed dearly

I don't know Phyllis, but read about her passing during Hurricane Helene. I used the word passing, because as a woman of faith, she is very much alive, and present with the Lord. She has simply passed from living a mortal life to eternal life. "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" 2 Cor 5:8
