Phyllis Wade Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 17, 2024.
Phyllis Mae (Ramsey) Wade passed away on October 2, 2024. She was 94 years old. Phyllis was the first born to George and Anne Ramsey, in Dallas, Oregon. Phyllis grew up in Corvallis, where she attended Oregon State College before moving to San Francisco to work in accounting.

It was then that the love of her life, Leo "Gordon" Wade, drove to San Francisco wearing his cowboy hat to find her and sweep her back to Oregon. They married and lived for a time in Enterprise, Oregon and eventually moved to Milwaukie, Oregon where they welcomed their son, Mark. Phyllis and Gordon lived most of their lives in Milwaukie and Oregon City, with some time back at the Wade Ranch in Enterprise.

Phyllis treasured spending time with her son and his family, attending games and cheering on her grandchildren, gathering for holidays and celebrating special events. Phyllis was loyal, generous, classy, and practical. She had a quick mind and appreciated a good sense of humor. Phyllis faced life straight on and was grateful for the heart-warming relationships that she had throughout her lifetime.

Phyllis was proud of her Scottish heritage and ensured that she passed on this history including the shortbread recipe, which Gordon had perfected. Phyllis and Gordon loved to travel, voyaging to Scotland, driving around the country with their RV club, and spending many winters in Yuma, AZ. After Gordon passed, Phyllis took on the role of Welcoming Ambassador at the Town Center Terrace, where she lived for 10 years, and was actively involved in many social activities. Phyllis will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Phyllis was predeceased by her brother, Robert Ramsey, her husband Gordon, and her son, Mark Aaron Wade. Phyllis is survived by her daughter-in-law, Catherine Benton Wade, her grandchildren Andrew Wade and wife Hailey, Amanda Wade, Samuel Wade and wife Alicia, and great grandchildren Eliza, Lily, and Callum; her sister, Beverly Jackson and husband Clifford, and nieces, Constance Jackson, Cathleen Miller, and Colleen Smith, their spouses and children, and stepdaughters from Gordon's first marriage, Diane, Barbara, and Joyce.

A service will be held on November 21st at Willamette National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Gordon.
