Pilar Vila

Our mother, Pilar Vila, sadly passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving children. She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Vila Valdes (Felix) and Thelma Alvarado (Gualberto); and son Jeffery Vila. She is also survived by grandchildren Dimitri (Elizabeth), Kiersten & Shane Alvarado; Joseph and Christina Vila; great grandchildren Sophia, Alexis, Jordyn, and Jaxson Alvarado, and Julius Boreland; sister Maria (Mena) Rodriguez; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joaquin (Jack) Vila, Jr.; her parents Pilar Perez (Cid) and Joaquin Perez; sisters Erundina (Nina) Blanco and Baby Urselina Perez; brother Edilio Cid; and brothers-in-law Servando Blanco and Carlos M. Rodriguez.

Our mama was a tiny fiery and feisty woman with a quick wit and wicked sense of humor. Despite many challenges, she persevered and was steadfast in her beliefs, and the love of her family. She had the biggest heart and most generous soul. Her tuna salad was the best in town, and there was never a shortage of milk at her house, compliments of the school cafeteria (if you know, you know). She loved playing canasta with her sisters; insisted on driving a car far too big for her; and would never turn down Cuban coffee or a good tiramisu.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Vista Funeral Home, 14200 N.W. 57th Avenue, Miami Lakes, Florida 33014. The burial will be on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Vista Memorial Gardens. The procession will begin at 9:30 a.m.
