Shannon M. Ishman

Shannon M. Ishman, 29, of South Buffalo Township, passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, while in the company of family members at their family farm. Miss Ishman was born March 3, 1978, in Kittanning, the daughter of Richard J. Ishman, of South Buffalo Township, and Cynthia D. (Frantz ) Ishman, also of South Buffalo Township. She was a member of Faith Community Church, Freeport. Shannon was a 1996 graduate of Freeport Area High School. She had worked at the J-Barn Restaurant in Buffalo Township for a number of years and the Fox Chapel YMCA working with children's programs. In 2000, she graduated from Pittsburgh Technical Institute and then took a job with U.S. Airways as a flight attendant for three years. Shannon was also an award winning model for eight years. Her awards include 1995 WMA Teen America Model (NYC), 1995 Fashion Plate USA, 1995 Miss Cameo Model (USA), 1995 Miss Picture Perfect Model USA, 1995 Miss Fashionality USA and 1995 Miss Charisma USA. She had also won the TV Commercial Excellence Award in New York City. She had done runway modeling, designer fashion shows, choreographic modeling and mannequin modeling for Deb Shop, Koening Sporting Goods and Fashion Bug. Shannon was a member of the World Modeling Association and the Professional Models Club. She enjoyed snow skiing, snow boarding, knee boarding, swimming and horseback riding. She was also a PAD1 certified scuba diver. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Shirley Frantz, of South Buffalo Township; her brother, Daniel R. and his wife, Angie Ishman, of South Buffalo Township; her sister, Jessica D. Ishman and her fiance, Joe Lang, of Leechburg. Shannon is also survived by four nephews, Damian and Matthew Ishman, both of South Buffalo Township, and Tyler and Hunter Lang, both of Leechburg; and two nieces, Kia and Emma Ishman, of South Buffalo Township. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert J. Ishman and Edith Ishman Clowers; and her maternal grandfather, Robert Frantz. Family and friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Faith Community Church, Freeport, at 11:00 am on Tuesday with Pastor Chuck Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Slate Lick Cemetery, Freeport.
