Polly Ann Hoots Van Dyke, of Suffolk, VA, died on December 24, 2024, at The Landings of Albemarle. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on October 19, 1932, to the late Walter Hoots and Lucille Pottle Hoots, she lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 92.

Polly grew up in San Anselmo, California. After moving to Virginia, she dedicated over two decades of her professional career to serving as a program analyst for the government, where she was known for her diligence and commitment. Beyond her career, Polly was a talented master gardener whose love for nature was only matched by her enthusiasm for sailing, pottery, and all things creative. Known for her infectious smile, she brought warmth and joy to everyone around her.

Polly was preceded in death by her loving parents, Walter Hoots and Lucille Pottle Hoots, as well as her beloved sister, Mary Louise Albert. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Lisa Branton (Scott) of North Carolina, Katherine Cook (John) of Maryland, and Soozee Van Dyke Woods (Bob) of California; her son, Stephen Thomas (Sharon), also of California; her brothers, Bob Hoots and Tom Hoots; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

In accordance with Polly's wishes, no services will be held. Her family and friends are invited to celebrate her remarkable life by remembering her love for nature, her artistic spirit, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her. Polly will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
