Preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Prince Howard (Mattie Hester) Gillenwaters; wife, Carolyn Alexander Gillenwaters; brother, James Howard Gillenwaters, Sr.; brother-in-law, Elder Ralph Lee.
Survivors, daughter, Africa Gillenwaters, Nashville, TN; grandchildren; Genesis, Jordan and "Lil" Prince Gillenwaters, Nashville, TN; great-grandson, Jayden Gillenwaters, Nashville, TN; sisters, Princess (Saul) Ford, Temple Hills, MD; Carolyn Lee, Louisville, TN; brother, Michael (Tolly) Gillenwaters, Memphis, TN; sister-in-law, Claretta Wyatt Gillenwaters, Lancaster, CA; a host of other relatives; and many devoted friends.
Family will receive friends, 11:00-12:00 noon, Friday, September 14, 2018 at Lennon-Seney United Methodist Church, 2084 Dandridge Avenue; funeral service, 12:00 noon; Elder Thomas S. Glenn, Officiating, Pastor of Unity Praize Church of God.
Interment East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier.)
