Pat was always such fun, and always so clever. My mom tells the story about how Pat became her hero and lifetime friend almost 70 years ago when my mom ran out of gas with kids in the car. Pat recognized my mom as another parent at her school and saw the pickle my mom & siblings were in. Pat piled them all into her car to get them home. When my mom noticed Pat was wearing PJs under her fancy coat, she was convinced they would be good friends. We've enjoyed having "Aunt Pat" and the whole Dever family as lifetime friends.

The more I spoke with Grandma, the more I was impressed by her acumen, wit and understanding of the world, past and present - her ability to discern our surrounding complexities and reveal attainable well-meaning solutions is something I will strive to reach for all the days she will be in my heart. PAT, a name I never called her, will always be a three-letter reminder to stretch my smile, evoking memories of the people who called her such in the home next to the golf course we shared summers in. Her strength in making you feel loved was so great that it guided me from the other side of the ocean, I will always adore you and continue to thank you for your lessons in kindness. Please remember to thank your new friends for all those parking spaces.
With incredible affection,
Lorenzo

Pat was the best mother-in-law ever. She was kind, generous, understanding, fun, always ready to play a game with her family and laugh. And what a cook! Lots of food. She will be missed.
